      We are looking for an experienced Senior GL Accountant to join our Finance team in Basel, Switzerland. In this key role, you will play an important role in the finance departement. You have a strong accounting knowledge and general ledger experience. Scrutiny of reserves and review of sophisticated accounting is a key task of the job. You play a vital role in maintaining SOx controls which impact accounting compliance.

      Success in this high-reaching role will be demonstrated through a passion for finance to provide timely and accurate finance information, meeting closing timelines as well as proactively supply to improved finance and accounting processes.

      Your responsibilities:

      • Prepare and record all bookings in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
      • Prepare reports such as balance sheet review and fluctuation analysis with commentary and follow-up actions as required, for example follow up on outstanding items
      • Perform monthly and quarterly closings
      • Conduct sophisticated entries and analyze financial reports.
      • Support the statutory and tax accounting team on audit and compliance queries.
      • Processing of payroll and related journals as well as reconciling corresponding accounts.
      • Collaborate closely with the entire finance team to ensure all transactions have been accurately brought together.
      • Maintain the fixed asset register and post monthly entries relating to fixed assets.
      • Understand company-wide accounting policies and apply relevant policies appropriately.
      • Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes with the aim of maintaining the current high standard of services provided.
      • Support the management and other collaborators with ad-hoc reports and participate in projects.

      Your qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related major, or equivalent experience.
      • CPA/ACCA or equivalent is helpful.
      • Validated knowledge of both US-GAAP and IFRS as well as SOx.
      • Experience in working with both Big 4 audit firms and international companies is preferred.
      • Solid Microsoft skills, especially Excel, Teams, Word, and Outlook. Power BI is not a requirement but appreciated.
      • Strong experiences with internal control environment and risks.
      • Ability to demonstrate discernment to connect financials with business activity.
      • General understanding of taxation principles, both direct and indirect taxes.
      • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy, ideally paired with strong analytical and problem- solving skills.
      • Ability to meet timelines, balance multiple priorities and perform job responsibilities accurately.
      • Self-motivated character who finds opportunities for continuous improvement and is able to work independently.
      • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and communicate proficiently in English and German.
      • Strong communication skills to establish effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
