      In order to support the Airbus Navigation Department, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

      JR10179751 Senior GNSS/SBAS System Performance Engineer (d/f/m)

      You will contribute to the ongoing development of the next generation of EGNOS and Galileo in the field of system performance, architecture and algorithm development. The EGNOS V3 Project provides the next generation of the European SBAS and will be the corner stone of provision of augmentation on GPS and Galileo for the next 20 years.

      You will join the Airbus Navigation Department at the Airbus site Ottobrunn/Taufkirchen near Munich. With more than 80 engineers and 20 years of experience it is one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo. The position offers an excellent opportunity to join leading industry on GNSS Navigation System development in an exciting environment with developing unique expertise.

      Your tasks and responsibilities

      • Manage technically all system performance activities in the EGNOS Performance Team, in collaboration with the system performance manager, i.e. steering and coordination of EGNOS Performance Team w.r.t. technical needs but also follow- up of task priorities and schedule

      • Manage and follow-up system and sub-system performance budgets using simulations and analysis, considering feedback from sub-system level and suppliers

      • Analyse and assess the RIMS S/S performance of measurements from receivers deployed on RIMS sites, and ensure aligning simulated synthetic data with real data (i.e. RIMS site surveys and RIMS prototypes)

      • Assess existing performance algorithms inside CPF, e.g. in the area of orbit determination and clock synchronization, multipath and interference detection, ionosphere and scintillation modelling, and (if needed) propose necessary

      • enhancements

      • Specify and assess necessary enhancements and modification for development of performance engineering tools, and check successful implementation

      • Development, coordination and follow-up of technical documentation (e.g. specifications, Performance Budget Management File, Interface Control Documents) at system and S/S level for performance related elements in coordination with the system performance manager and S/S performance managers

      • Interact with the customer (ESA) and within the team at Airbus located in Ottobrunn and Toulouse

      Desired skills and qualifications

      • You are educated to a Master’s Degree in Navigation, Geodesy, Physics, Mathematics, Informatics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

      • You have profound (several years) knowledge and proven experience in satellite navigation systems, in particular GPS, Galileo and SBAS, and working experience of the development and deployment phases of these systems

      • You have mathematical background for algorithm development

      • You have a good knowledge on GNSS system, receiver and user algorithms including advanced positioning concepts and particular knowledge in some of the following aspects: PPP, ambiguity resolution, orbit determination, ionosphere modelling, ARAIM, integrity concepts.

      • You are experienced in systems engineering processes, and supporting software as Python or Matlab

      • You are clear understanding of project development life cycles for large end-to- end systems

      • You are able to analyse complex technical problems and define innovative solutions

      • You have good interpersonal and very good verbal and written communication skills - You speak English to negotiation level, German or French is a welcome asset

      This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
