Job Description

- Research and monitor government, foundation, and corporate funding opportunities via Internet, printed publications, and organizational contacts.
- Collaborate with the Director of Grants in organizing project management processes and procedures within the grants department based on identified priorities for funding.
- Ensure effective and timely communication of proposal requirements, eligibility, restrictions, deadlines and other pertinent proposal information with Grants Department and project team members.
- Oversee and manage grant proposal process from start to finish, including:
- Identifying external funding opportunities;
- Coordinating project management teams for larger proposals;
- Organizing the cohesive work flow among project team members;
- Developing and composing proposal content and ensuring all sections of each proposal are complete as designated by Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Applications (RFAs) and potential funding sources; and
- Ensuring final proposals are submitted by designated deadlines.
- Research and assist in the composition of highly technical narrative pieces (i.e. research, evaluation, best practices, etc.) for proposal content or other organization collateral materials (i.e. informational pamphlets, brochures, etc.).
- Work with all Grants Department staff to align proposals with funding priorities.
- Prepare professional letters such as Letters of Inquiry to potential funding sources, collaborating sources, government representatives.
- Submit proposals promptly to funding sources to ensure all are submitted by the designated deadline.
- Communicate with funding sources and potential funding sources to obtain needed information regarding proposal and reporting submissions.
- Research best practices and data in support of proposal preparation and to assist in conceptualizing programming.
- Assist senior leadership in the preparation of various communications including, but not limited to: letters to the editor, blog posts, reports, correspondence, content for brochures or other public relations documents.
- Assist with the preparation of Southwest Key Programs, East Austin College Prep, and Promesa Public Schools marketing materials including program overviews, white papers, newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, and flyers as required.
- Act as a representative of Southwest Key Programs with external stakeholders.
- Assist with grant reports and data collection and analysis as needed.
- Assists Executive Management team in coordinating additional fundraising activity, as needed.
- Act as a team player within the organization to support and contribute to community development, program support, or community outreach activities as needed.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience composing and submitting professional grant proposals.
- Content knowledge in education, community development, juvenile justice, and/or workforce development.
- Demonstrated success in preparing and submitting professional grant proposals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in partnership with others and coordinate a working team in the accomplishment of a project.
- Excellent attention to detail and research and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage and oversee grant writing projects, meet deadlines and to take initiative.
- Expert computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Job Summary:
The Senior Grant Writer will coordinate and oversee grant activities in alignment with organizational goals, policies, and procedures. The Senior Grant Writer will be responsible for managing grant proposal processes from start to finish including researching and identifying external grant and funding opportunities, responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Applications (RFAs), coordinating project management teams and organizing the work flow among participating staff, developing the composition and coordination of proposal content, and final submission of proposals.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
