      Our team in Leeds currently has an opening for a Financial Accountant

      YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

      We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant, reporting to the Head of Tax for the UK and Ireland, you will be a key part of the tax team with the opportunity to get involved in a broad range of work, covering multiple tax and accounting areas.
      The ideal candidate will have had professional experience in Corporate Tax, with working knowledge of other tax areas and the ability to learn quickly on the job.

      As a Financial Accountant, it will be your responsibility to:

      • Preparation and review of the UK corporate tax returns and correspondence with UK HMRC. Track and reconcile HMRC accounts and calculate payments on account required.
      • Preparation and submission of UK VAT returns and providing ad-hoc VAT advice to the wider Brenntag team.
      • Preparation and submission of Irish VAT returns and Irish Corporation Tax returns (with the assistance of Irish external advisors).
      • Assisting and/or reviewing intrastat and EC Sales list submissions (for Northern Ireland and ROI)
      • Assist with the preparation and review of group deferred tax calculations at GAAP and IFRS level where needed. Preparation of the tax disclosures in the financial statements for the Group and UK financial statements.
      • Maintain and update Group-wide transfer pricing documentation with external advisors. Provide assistance when calculating intercompany transactions and keep track of intercompany loans and withholding tax agreements with HMRC.
      • Involvement on any tax projects both in the UK and overseas (e.g. transfer pricing, system development, corporate simplification, acquisition tax due diligence/support).
      • Maintain and regularly update tax risk registers for CCO/SAO purposes.
      • Some involvement in customs and excise duty reconciliations and return submissions. Help with procedure review/improvements where necessary.

      YOUR PROFILE

      As the successful candidate you will:

      • Be a qualified financial accountant / tax advisor (CA / ACA / ACCA / CTA)
      • Have detailed knowledge of UK corporation tax and tax accounting
      • Be up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP financial accounting
      • Have a good understanding of OECD transfer pricing rules and local file preparation
      • Have a working knowledge of UK VAT and an awareness of employment taxes / PAYE
      • Have an excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Be competent with MS Office applications (or similar), with a good knowledge of Excel.
      • ACCA or equivalent. Preferably also with tax qualification or experience working in tax.
