Senior Hardware Electrical Engineer - Power Design

      Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer (EE) in Ultrasound Diagnostic GRC R&D, specializing in power design, is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing power management systems, with a focus on DC-DC regulators, for advanced ultrasound diagnostic equipment. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, efficient, and reliable power solutions that meet the stringent requirements of medical imaging devices.

      Your Role:

      • Power System Design: Architect and design power management systems, including high-efficiency DC-DC regulators, to support ultrasound system performance, ensuring low noise, high stability, and compliance with medical device standards.
      • Circuit Development: Develop and simulate analog and mixed-signal circuits for power delivery, focusing on DC-DC converters (buck, boost, buck-boost), voltage regulators, and power distribution networks.
      • Component Selection: Select and qualify components for power circuits, ensuring compatibility with ultrasound system requirements, including high-voltage transducers and low-power electronics.
      • Prototyping and Debugging: Build and test prototypes, troubleshoot power-related issues, and implement design improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.
      • System Integration: Collaborate with hardware, software, and mechanical teams to integrate power systems into ultrasound devices, optimizing for size, thermal performance, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
      • Verification: Design and execute verification plan to verify power system performance, including efficiency, thermal management, and reliability under various operating conditions.
      • Resolves advanced and multifaceted technical issues across hardware, software, and other technical components, employing sophisticated problem-solving skills to address and prevent production downtime effectively.
      • Evaluates and approves high-potential components and technologies from external vendors and suppliers, ensuring they meet Philips' rigorous quality, performance, and strategic standards.
      • Monitors and critically assesses the performance and reliability of complex systems and components, proactively identifying and leading initiatives to optimize product performance, lifecycle, and user experience.
      • Ensures strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality standards, fostering a culture of compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
      • Presents comprehensive and persuasive technical findings, design proposals, and project updates to senior stakeholders and executive management, effectively communicating complex engineering concepts and their strategic implications.
      • Provides expert mentorship, guidance, and training to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and technical mastery within the team.
      • Implements and refines advanced engineering best practices and methodologies, driving significant process improvements to enhance efficiency, innovation, and accelerate time-to-market for new products.
      • Assesses and integrates actionable feedback from rigorous testing, user experience studies, and market trends, continuously refining and enhancing product designs to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction, competitive advantage, and market leadership.
      • Cultivates effective relationships with internal/external partners and provides influence over projects and peer groups, demonstrating full understanding of engineering specialization within the medical devices sector.

      You're the right fit if:

      • Education:
        • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
      • Experience:
        • 5+ years of experience in power electronics design, with a focus on DC-DC regulators.
        • Proven track record in medical device development, preferably ultrasound or imaging systems.
        • Expertise in designing low-noise power systems for high-frequency, high-voltage applications.
      • Technical Skills:
        • Proficiency in power electronics design tools (e.g., LTspice).
        • Strong understanding of DC-DC converter topologies, control techniques, and feedback systems.
        • Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and thermal management for compact medical devices.
        • Familiarity with PCB layout for power circuits and signal integrity.
        • Good communication both in English & Chinese.
      • Soft Skills:
        • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
        • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.
        • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced R&D environment.
      • Preferred Qualifications:
        • Experience with ultrasound-specific power requirements (e.g., high-voltage pulser circuits).
        • Familiarity with FPGA or microcontroller integration for power control.
        • Knowledge of medical device regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, NMPA).
