Salary Band $103,045 – $126,150 + Kiwisaver
Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are looking for two committed and enthusiastic candidates for our SHO positions in Anaesthesia. The full appointment is for 12 months from January 2025 to January 2026 at Dunedin Hospital with 6 months working as an SHO in our busy and supportive Anaesthesia department with the remaining period being worked in rotations arranged with the RMO Unit to suit individual candidates – for example ICU. The first candidate will start in Anaesthesia in January 2025 and the second in August 2025.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have a strong interest in Anaesthesia as a career. These positions are considered a stepping- stone towards the popular South Island Anaesthesia Training Scheme in the four-year ANZCA Training Programme.
You will receive direct consultant teaching daily as we support you in pre-assessing patients, administering anaesthesia to all ages, providing obstetric anaesthesia, and becoming an expert in resuscitation, technical skills and pain relief. There is no on call component.

Utu whānui |Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors’ Association & 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 17 May 2021 – 31 March 2024 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 – 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA) and the salary will fall between $103,045 – $126,150 dependant on relevant experience.
