What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review, analyze, and interpret clinical documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Apply appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10CM, ICD-10PCS, and DRG codes for quality reporting and reimbursement
- Mentor junior coding staff and provide education to enhance coding excellence
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding clinical documentation needs
- Perform concurrent coding and assist with DRG auditing and validation as required
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of five years of acute-care inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting
- Thorough knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodology and documentation guidelines
- Strong communication skills to interact with physicians and staff
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification or credential required

- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience with coding functions, rules, and guidelines related to DRG assignment
