What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient services
- Abstract additional data elements during the chart review process
- Adhere to ethical coding standards
- Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when necessary
- Stay up-to-date with coding knowledge and participate in department meetings
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma/GED
- Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC
- 3+ years of acute care inpatient medical coding experience
- Experience with complex procedures and observation coding
- ICD-10 (CM & PCS) and DRG coding experience
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience
- Experience with OSHPD reporting
- Experience with encoder systems and EMR systems
