- Lead the development of comprehensive curriculum strategies and learning architectures
- Design and implement technical training programs aligned with organizational goals
- Create structured learning paths for various roles across the organization
- Manage LMS administration and content development
- Evaluate and implement new learning technologies and methodologies
- Develop complex training solutions and technical documentation
- Ensure all training materials meet accessibility standards
- Manage training logistics for both in-person and virtual sessions
- Maintain accurate training records and completion data
- Provide administrative support for the training team
- Coordinate with stakeholders to schedule training sessions and manage resources
- Partner with program leaders to identify and address learning needs
- Lead the development of training evaluation metrics and success criteria
- Drive innovation in learning design and delivery methods
- Create scalable learning solutions that support business growth
- Establish best practices for instructional design and development
- Provide thought leadership in learning technology and adult education
- Establish quality standards for all training materials and programs
- Implement measurement tools to assess training effectiveness
- Create and maintain program evaluation frameworks
- Ensure consistent application of adult learning principles
- Monitor and report on training program effectiveness
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for learning programs
- Mentor instructional designers and training specialists
- Provide technical guidance and direction to the learning team
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organization
- Lead cross-functional projects related to learning initiatives
- Drive knowledge sharing and best practices across the team
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field (Masteru2019s preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning architecture, and technical training development
- Expertise in learning management systems, learning technology platforms, and project management of learning initiatives
- Proven leadership in managing learning design teams and driving complex training projects
- In-depth knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and accessibility/inclusive design standards
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and curriculum development skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects
- Professional certifications in learning design or adult education a plus
- Strong proficiency in applying accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.u00A0
- Ability to frequently carry and lift a backpack containing a laptop and other supplies, up to 50 pounds.
- Capacity to move within a 1.5-mile radius, including walking between various Amazon buildings.
- Ability to stand and/or sit at a computer workstation for up to 8 hours per workday.
- Fine motor skills to operate computer equipment and other office machinery.
- Vision: Ability to see both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).
- Hearing: Ability to identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).
- Primary work setting is a combination of office environment and actively visiting several Amazon buildings
- Dog-friendly environment with over 1,000 dogs on campus. Individuals with dog allergies or those who do not particularly care for dogs should consider this aspect of the work environment
- May occasionally require arriving early, staying late on short notice, or working evening and weekend shifts
- Local travel between Amazon buildings is required
- Potential for occasional business travel

The Role - The Senior Instructional Designer will serve as a key leader in shaping and executing the learning strategy for Northwest Center @ Amazonu2019s training programs. This position is instrumental in designing innovative and inclusive learning solutions that meet the needs of a dynamic and diverse workforce.
In this role, you will lead the development of structured learning paths, oversee LMS administration, and drive the design of technical training initiatives that support program scalability and long-term impact. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that training content is not only aligned with organizational goals but also accessible, engaging, and grounded in sound instructional design principles.
We are looking for a seasoned learning professional with a deep understanding of adult learning theory and instructional architecture. You will bring strategic thinking, creativity, and technical expertise to build high-quality training solutions that translate complex concepts into effective learning experiences. Your contributions will directly support the growth and performance of our teams across the Northwest Center @ Amazon division.u00A0Location: Arlington, VA
Hours:u00A0Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 am u2013 6:00 pm withu00A0flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Starting Salary Range: $85,800 - $97,937 per year | Full Salary Range: $85,800 - $110,074 per year
