      Senior Intelligence Analyst

      Salary: National ranging from £51,200 to £56,800 and London from £56,400 to £62,000 - salary offered will be based on skills and experience

      The team/department

      This role within the Intelligence Development and Analysis Team (IDAT) will play an integral role in the FCA’s understanding and analysis of serious harm, and its ability to take appropriate action. IDAT will be focused on proactively and reactively identifying and analysing both closed source sensitive intelligence and publicly available open-source data. This material will be used to support ongoing FCA Enforcement investigations and cases in Supervision and Authorisations supporting both criminal and regulatory outcomes.

      What you will be doing (the role)

      • Work alongside the Enforcement Triage and Assessment Team to understand the intelligence implications for complex issues identified by the work of other areas within the FCA

      • Collect and analyse intelligence from multiple sources, to produce tactical and evidential products (including profiles, reports, communications data analysis and assessments) to help shape the direction of our Enforcement, Supervision and Authorisations team investigations in the criminal, dual track, and regulatory/civil space, providing advice on complex intelligence opportunities and techniques IDAT’s stakeholders

      • Appropriate handling and dissemination of sensitive intelligence

      • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues in other business areas within the FCA and with external stakeholders

      • Sharing knowledge through mentoring and training, acting as SPOC and SME to more junior members of staff to help develop capability in intelligence analysis/FCA ways of working

      • Contribute to tasking, co-ordination, and prioritisation function that sits across intelligence, delivering outputs, communicating with stakeholders to shape program and contribute to discussions on the impact of complex emerging risks and existing enforcement cases

      The skills and experience you will have

      Minimum

      We are a signatory to the Government’s Disability Confident scheme. This means that we will offer an interview to disabled candidates entering under the scheme, should they meet the minimum criteria for a role.

      • Proven track record in tactical intelligence case support, preferably including communications data and intelligence analysis, ideally in a financial crime or regulatory context

      • Practical experience of National Intelligence Model (NIM) and intelligence products to support tactical and strategic intelligence requirements

      Essential

      • Experience in intelligence investigation and intelligence collection techniques

      • Experience in analysing intelligence and evidence to reach conclusions and make judgements along with the skills to present the outcome of that analysis clearly and effectively, orally and in writing

      • Ability to handle, process and analyse a wide range of data, including communications data, to provide direction to instigate and drive an investigation forward using intelligence products

      • Proficiency in storing, sharing, handling, and using intelligence (including sensitive intelligence) effectively and securely, including managing records systems and tools

      • Strong IT capabilities including the use of visualisation and analytical tools (e.g., EIA, Chorus, Clue, Microsoft products and PND) and open-source internet (OSINT and SOCMINT) to deliver outputs

      • Ability to work on your own whilst managing a variety of tasks and issues, prioritising appropriately, delivering outcomes, and escalating where necessary with the ability to challenge intelligently and constructively, exercising judgement, and upholding those judgements where necessary and appropriate

      • Working with minimal supervision and on own initiative to an extremely high standard and accuracy, and only seeking management guidance where necessary
