SUMMARY

The Korea focused investment consultant is based in Hong Kong to handle business developments from investment technical, analytical and operational aspects and provide high quality advisory and investment solution services in English and Korean. Investment consultant is also responsible for supporting senior consultants in delivery of client work and business development activities. Proactive approach at supporting business development and client deliveries for existing and prospective clients by working with global and regional colleagues in Mercer.

POSITION SCOPE

We will count on you to:

Business Development:

• Act as a business development manager for Korea investment business by expanding new business opportunities in line with Korea Wealth business direction.
• Engage business development process across preparing decks, proposals and service materials.
• Produce written material on Mercer investment capabilities and service offering with support by senior professionals and team work.
• Cover client reports and advice with support from senior colleagues, including client portfolio review, conducting investment performance analytics, manager reviews and manager selection work, asset-liability modelling and strategic asset allocation exercises etc. The type of advice you can deliver would be subject to HK SFC requirements.
• Lead and participate in internal activities and initiatives designed to improve the client experience.
• Manage client profile, including updating client contact information, logging meeting notes, and reporting of activity etc.

Project Management:

• Have project management responsibilities appropriate for this role. This will cover traditional as well as alternative investments, for one-off projects as well as nurturing ongoing relationships.
• Coordinate the project process by effectively communicating/ organizing with internal professionals.
• Work with guidance from senior team members on investment related analysis, utilizing historical performance databases and in-house capital asset models to develop investment advice on client’s long-term investment objectives.
• Balance work requirements, client demand with self-study for professional qualifications supported by Mercer.
• Receive instructions from team members and interpret them accurately to produce the desired outcome or output.
• Handle client queries and requirements in Korean and support senior colleagues on delivery.

Others:

• Lead and execute strategic projects to streamline and evolve business development processes.
• Apply advanced problem solving skills, judgement and experience to analyze information and effectively communicate to clients.
• Provide support for client meetings for senior consultants and key investment professionals . Prepare briefing notes and presentation materials to be used in client meetings and coordination of relevant account information, in addition to compiling ad-hoc value-add material as appropriate .
• Effective interaction with Mercer’s global professionals in various markets by different asset classes and project themes.
• Contribute to Mercer’s business strategy through developing new skills to deliver projects to enhance financial knowledge and developing business planning ideas and concepts.
• Direct junior colleagues in carrying out different research and analytics, as part of forming Mercer’s local views on issues that our clients will be interested in.

What you need to have:

• Degree qualified and/ or post graduate qualification. Good academic track record in numerical subjects such as Economics, Finance and related field.
• 10-15 years of proven working experience in the asset management industry, especially in business development, client servicing and on-boarding. Other experience such as investment strategy, advisory, portfolio management, product developments and research/ quant analysis etc. is preferred.
• Good track record for servicing Korean asset owners and financial institutions etc. Well-developed investment market knowledge across various traditional investment and alternative investment asset classes.
• Experience in analytical coverage and dealing with various investment products. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients from all backgrounds.
• Well-versed with the regulatory requirements on account opening, CDD, KYC, and AML
• Familiarity working in a global firm environment. Independent and proactive working style with high level of responsibilities and actively participating in team work.
• Strong organizational skills, task prioritization, attention to detail, ability to exercise sound judgment and independent problem-solving skills .
• Superior verbal and written communication skills with client, prospects and colleagues .
• Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, presentation and technical skills and interest in developing those skills further.
• A team-player attitude and ability to develop relationships. Have strong self-initiative and curiosity in financial services, self-motivated to seek out knowledge, test ideas and ways to contribute to the team.
• Positive attitude and strong personal management in order to plan ahead for foreseeable tasks and understand own capacity for unforeseeable tasks.
• Demonstrate ability to break down complex problems and offer solutions . Ability to complete work independently in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner .
• Good command on MS Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook). Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Strong communication skills in Korean and English, both written and verbal.
• Completed or in the process of completing professional exams in either CFA or similar qualifications relating to investment/ asset management.
