  Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Java Developer who demonstrates exceptional work behaviors to join our team at the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (Swift) in Madrid, Spain.

  At Swift, we are renowned for our outstanding financial messaging services. As a Developer, you will contribute to our STARS (Standards Reusable Services) squad, a team whose mission is to provide the data processing and standards interoperability platform enables seamless communication among global financial institutions. This project contributes to Swift’s strategic platform vision and presents an exclusive opportunity to join a team that is actively shaping the future of global banking.

  Responsibilities:

  Our Standards Services Runtime (SSR) is an embeddable platform component that exposes the services needed to interact with data in Swift’s ISO 20022/MX and ISO 15022/MT standards, and in other standard and proprietary formats. It is the engine that Swift interfaces and valuable services products use to validate, transform, and otherwise interact with financial message and data formats.

  Our Universal Standards Archive (USA) is Swift’s strategic vision for packaging and delivering the value from our standards to our users. It is a standardised packaging for the technical artefacts and models that represent international standards and customer-specific usages of Swift messaging and data.

  Together, USA and SSR provide a flexible, future-proofed platform that allows Swift to provide a consistent and coherent experience for our users, enabling more agile support for new standards and data processing features, while greatly simplifying our legacy codebase.

  Considering the core nature of these components and of Swift’s business, strong emphasis is placed on quality, security, availability, scalability, resilience, performance, and system resources consumption. You will adhere to the Agile development approach and will be accountable for delivering the highest quality software.

  Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team and our customers to determine technical requirements and successfully implement innovative solutions.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and reliable Java code.
  • Contribute to software design and architecture discussions.
  • Develop clean, testable and efficient code using widely accepted approaches in the industry.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  Requirements:

  • Solid understanding and experience with OO development in Java (11+).
  • Proficient with Maven packaging technology.
  • Strong expertise in XML, XSD, and related technologies.
  • Comfortable working under Unix OS (command and shell scripting) - esp RedHat Linux.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles (containers, pipelines).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of Agile software delivery processes (Scrum, etc.)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Other languages an advantage in our highly international, multi-cultural team.

  Desirable Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Swift Translator, Trace Transformer, MyStandards.
  • Knowledge of Message/Data Standards technologies (parsing, validation, format mappings, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Swift Networks and Financial Message Standards (SwiftNet, FIN, ISO 20022/MX, ISO 15022/MT, etc.) Experience with other value-added networks and standards valued.
  • Focused on customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Collaborative individual with effective communication abilities (written and oral)
  • Able to analyze, plan, and organize (self and team)
  • Inquisitive, open-minded, focused on finding solutions, and enthusiastic about learning.
