      About the opportunity

      Working in the Advanced Analytics and Planning team (AAP), in the VP Strategy portfolio, t he Senior Manager Business Intelligence and Government Reporting has leadership responsibilities to guide, develop and manage a team of professional Analysts to deliver automated reporting and dashboards that empower university staff to enable impactful teaching and research, drive sustainable performance, and deliver outstanding student experiences , through a suite of self-serve solutions . This key role requires the ability to develop strong relationships with a wide group of stakeholder s, understand ing their business intelligence opportunities and challenges and delivering robust and sustainable solutions .

      T his role works closely with areas of the University responsible for the transmission of data to the Government and areas involved in improving and m aintaining the quality of the data that is captured and reported . The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Government Reporting is responsible for understanding changes to reporting requirements and how these relate to university business processes and systems. In this role you will utilise your subject matter experienc e, business acumen and problem-solving expertise to make decisions and recommendations on broad and complex issues which impact on the operations of the university .

      Your key responsibilities will be to:

      • l ead , coach and mentor a team of A nalysts , adopting best practice techniques in leveraging technology to deliver analytics products , while empower ing them to take ownership of projects and tasks

      • develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through an open, transparent, partnering approach

      • v isualise insights and analytics using mediums (e.g. Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint ) that are appropriate for the desired audience and use

      • l ead ongoing maintenance of reporting ecosystem to ensure a high-quality suite of reporting and dashboards are available with adequate documentation and architecture to facilitate good user experience

      • e nsure timely and high-quality delivery of analysis and preparation of a range of reports and data downloads for external regulatory reporting ; includ ing complex reports to senior management, analysis of student and staff data for inclusion in statutory compliance reporting

      • f oster a culture of innovation, curiosity , objectivity and openness, under-pinned by stream-lined , fit for purpose and future-proof processes and documentation .

      About you

      • p ostgraduate qualifications in Analytics or a relevant field , or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

      • e xtensive technical skills in developing enterprise business intelligence platforms using cloud infrastructure, providing significant technical training and support to analysts and developers

      • e xtensive experience using Power BI , and applying technical capabilities in the field of Analytics to deliver insight and recommendations

      • p roven team leadership experience at a senior level with executive presence; together with flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments and, when necessary, navigating through ambiguity

      • a bility to work under an agile methodology approach, including working across teams as required

      • e ffective in managing a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with industry providers and key users.

      Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
