      About us:

      Market Operations is a Global team of 400+ Operations Professionals who support our Global Markets, Commodities and Carbon, Structured Trade & Treasury businesses globally. Functions performed are trade confirmation / affirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and client data capture/maintenance, corporate actions (the front to back trade lifecycle) across FX, Fixed Income, Rates, Commodities, Carbon, Structured Trade. Derivatives and Loans.

      Market Operations also provides Middle and Back Office services including Collateral Management, Regulatory Reporting, Client Reference Data maintenance, Client Onboarding, KYC Refresh, Account Origination, Client Case Management, Estate Management, International Loan Administration & Operations, Trade Support, Confirmation services and Settlements / Payments.

      Picture yourself in the team:

      The Commodities team provides operational and logistical support to the Global Commodities desks, with a focus on Base Metals in London. As the role is based in London you will be required to work closely with the Commodities Operations team based in Sydney.

      You will be responsible and accountable for supporting the process/product of the day-to-day operations of the Global Commodities Business.

      You will be managing a team of 8 people (1 Manager and 7 Senior Associates / Associates), and will report to the Head of WHEM Operations (also based in London). You will be an integral part of the WHEM Leadership Team and expected to participate in the wider Global Market Operations Extended Leadership forums which take place occasionally.

      Do work that matters:

      Your main responsibilities will include:

      • You will oversee both the Settlements and Logistics teams for CBA Base and Precious Metals Business. The role requires day-to-day leadership of the Commodities teams, with a span of control across different CBA locations. This involves coordinating a "follow the sun" process, ensuring seamless operations across time zones.
      • Stakeholder Support and Collaboration by being the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will need to support colleagues and peers across several functions, including sales channels and trade sales specialists. Our internal stakeholders are either the Business Desk Heads or part of the Senior Management Regime and Branch Leadership teams. We require a leader who can work effectively with different teams to achieve common goals.
      • Leading operational initiatives to support business growth requires a proactive leader who can identify opportunities for improvement and drive projects to completion.
      • Delivering accurate and relevant management information back to stakeholders across the Group. Requiring a leader who can analyse data and provide insights that inform decision-making.
      • Complying with bank policies, controls, and frameworks, and reporting any issues affecting the team, underscores the need for a leader who is diligent, ethical, and committed to minimizing risk.

      We are interested in hearing from you if you have:

      • Substantial experience in Commodities Operations/Middle Office, specifically across Base and Precious Metals & Carbon operations.
      • Understanding of end-to-end Logistics Operations, including overseeing logistics planning, transportation, warehousing, and inventory control.
      • A good understanding of the settlements and transfer process for commodities (including Warrants).
      • Broad understanding of Traditional Trade Finance, which is essential for managing financial transactions related to trade.
      • Experience in AML and KYC risk themes and processes.
      • Proven and established leader with a strong track record in team management, development and mentoring.
      • Strong senior stakeholder relationships management experience.
      • Strong problem identifying and solving skills.
      • A Bachelor of Arts or Degree in Finance.
      • Experience in utilising industry wide systems such as Murex is beneficial but not essential.
