      About You
      The Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement & Systems leads a team of five direct reports to deliver excellent systems administration support that enables research at RMIT through the advice and services provided by teams within the Research & Innovation Portfolio. Reporting to the Director, Research Reporting & Systems, the Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement & Systems will work closely with the Senior Manager, Research Reporting & Insights within the Research Systems & Reporting Team in Research Strategy & Services. The role will have oversight of R&I continuous improvement and data governance initiatives and deliver best practice in using research management systems to provide high quality research activity data to support an excellent researcher experience. The role will be responsible for the successful operational transition to a new research management system delivered under Project MODERN, with a dedicated Systems Administrator reporting to the role following implementation. The role will influence and support researcher-facing service teams across the University to continuously review their processes and applications to reduce the administrative burden on researchers, enhance and uplift data integrity for strategic insights and ensure content and information for users is up to date, easy to access and relevant. The role may also lead the discovery and prototyping of research management and analytics applications and manage the development process.

      To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

      • Demonstrated experience leading a team responsible for application development and systems administration.
      • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement initiatives that deliver clear business benefit.
      • Ability to influence and clearly communicate the need for improved processes that provide an excellent researcher service experience.
      • Excellent communication, relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional staff from diverse backgrounds and portfolios to understand the problems and enable solutions.
      • Demonstrated ability to accurately gather, analyse and develop business requirements from a range of clients and stakeholders. Experience in application prototyping would be ideal.
      • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary ways of working and proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, including experience analysing data from multiple sources and making recommendations to inform strategic and operational plans.
      • Demonstrated high level problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and abilities to mediate between the conflicting interests of different stakeholders.
      • Demonstrated history of behaviour aligned to the RMIT values, leadership capabilities and professional capability framework
      • Demonstrated approaches to support team capability development and cross skilling.

      Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
