      Job Description

      About The Position

      KIPP Foundation’s Data & Analytics (D&A) team supports the use, analysis, presentation, and application of high-quality data and research regarding KIPP schools, teachers, students, and families. These data enable KIPP to drive improvement in results, monitor progress toward outcomes and leading indicators, and inform learning and storytelling. The D&A team supports a network of high-performing schools by providing key stakeholders with data needed for constant learning, decision-making, marketing, and development. The ideal Senior Manager, D&A Analytics excels at data storytelling, is highly detailed and process-oriented, and is always trying to find ways to improve existing processes, analyses, and products. In addition, this team member is a strong communicator, relationship-builder, and proactive self-starter who centers equity in their work and relationships.

      The Senior Manager, Data & Analytics will report to the Director, Data & Analytics and work collaboratively with teammates within D&A and across the KIPP Foundation and network.

      Responsibilities

      The Senior Manager, Data & Analytics responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

      Lead the design and execution of reporting and analysis (60%)

      • Co-lead the development of annual scopes of work that focus on key reporting and analytical needs related to KIPP Foundation’s strategic priorities

      • Clean, compile, and analyze data across content areas to support reporting and analysis

      • Lead the design and implementation of reports, dashboards, and other products to make data accessible and understandable to KIPP Foundation and network stakeholders

      • Generate actionable insights for key stakeholders and communicate results in a variety of formats, including memos and written, visual, and verbal presentations

      • Serve as a thought partner and key advisor to KIPP Foundation teams on issues such as metric development, goal-setting, progress monitoring, data interpretation, and strategic data use

      Co-lead data collection, quality assurance, verification, and systems initiatives (30%)

      • Co-lead annual data collection, quality assurance, and verification processes to ensure on-time collection, processing, and delivery of high-quality data to KIPP Foundation and network stakeholders

      • Co-lead the development of business, functional, and technical requirements to support data collection, quality assurance, and verification processes and data warehousing

      Support day-to-day activities of the Data & Analytics team (10%)

      • Support KIPP Foundation, regions, schools, and community members with data needs, including grant submissions, secondary research, and ad-hoc data requests

      • Support with planning and execution for annual, network-facing events, including network retreats

      • Support with planning, facilitating, and contributing to D&A team culture and equity development

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • 4+ years of work experience in a role focused on quantitative reporting and analysis, data processing, data management, and quality assurance

      • Expertise in SQL or other programming languages/statistical software (e.g., Python, R, SAS, Stata)

      • Expertise in developing dashboards and data visualization using business intelligence software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker)

      • Experience managing a portfolio of analytical projects while working with a variety of stakeholders, including senior management

      • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to translate research and analytical findings into accessible formats for non-research audiences

      • Track record of developing and executing robust data quality assurance processes

      • Deep commitment to both racial and educational equity: supports building an organization that reflects the community that KIPP serves and holds self and others on team accountable for centering equity

      • Customer service orientation with an interest in assisting end users as they seek to provide, access, and understand data

      Preferred:

      • Experience in K-12 and/or higher education

      • Proficiency in Tableau

      • Proficiency in statistical methods

      • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts

      • Experience with the following (or similar) technologies: MSSQL, Salesforce, Jira, Zendesk

      Work Conditions

      • Travel requirements: May include up to 10% travel

      Location

      It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office. This role also offers the option of working from a remote office full-time. KIPP Foundation office is in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington DC.

      Compensation and Benefits.

      The salary range for this position is $100,000-$118,000, commensurate with experience.
