      Marketing Analytics team helps drive business strategy by synthesizing data and performance metrics into actionable insights across product categories, customer segments, marketing channels and sales channels. It is a customer-focused, action-biased, data-driven team chartered with driving business by understanding customer behavior using advanced analytics. This is a high-impact and high-visibility role within the organization with expectations to deliver immediate results. The complexity of this role requires one to develop actionable insights from copious amounts of competitive, conversion, and behavioral data from proprietary and third-party data.

      What you will do:

      As the Senior Manager II, Data Science – Walmart Creator, you and your team are responsible for providing insights about Walmart’s Social Commerce works team’s performance and optimization opportunities for our marketers, product category managers, advertising agencies, internal partner teams, and senior leaders. You will help develop a holistic understanding of this workstream and how other business levers work together to grow customer engagement, drive incremental sales, and contribute to longer term strategic objectives. You will be a true thought leader and partner in the Marketing organization that can work across key parts of Marketing (Social Commerce Marketing, Data Engineering, Customer Data science, Campaign Measurement and Experimentation), Product, Finance to bring data-driven decision making to our Social Commerce marketing strategy. This is a rare opportunity to shape the trajectory of emerging customer behavior. You will bridge the art of what’s possible across today’s rapidly evolving social commerce landscape with this highly visible and impactful role.

      You will make an impact by:

      • Your focus will be to build, lead and define measurement and attribution goals, outline a runway to reach them, specifically for Walmart Creator and Social Commerce, leaning heavily on Marketing Mix Models, Multi-Touch Attribution, causal inference, experimentation, and other statistical tools and advanced analytics solutions available within the marketing eco-system.

      • You will design, oversee, and analyze intricate experiments, such as A/B tests, multi-arm bandits, and factorial designs, to evaluate marketing strategies and optimize key performance metrics.

      • Applying causal inference methodologies when live A/B testing is not feasible, and using advanced machine learning techniques including regression (linear, logistic), time series analysis, propensity models, and clustering, to generate predictive models that enhance marketing decision-making.

      • Building customer views to understand the impact of Social Commerce initiatives on customers across all stages of the buying lifecycle including New User Acquisition, Engagement/Retention, and Reactivation.

      • Integrating disparate data sources and partnering with various engineering teams to define data architecture and in-house tool requirements, and improve data quality towards single source of truth.

      • Collaborating with Marketing Business Intelligence team towards creating insightful data visualizations to empower marketers with self-serving data solutions to drive tactical decision making.

      • Consulting with senior leadership/ business partners to understand overall goals/functional objectives, decipher key business challenges, identify tactics to anticipate and mitigate business challenges/issues and develop potential success criteria.

      • Communicating technical material clearly to a range of audiences and building narratives that provides insight into the factors impacting business performance.

      • Leading and managing a team of onshore, nearshore, offshore analysts, providing guidance and support, and ensuring that junior analysts have the resources they need to be successful.

      You’ll sweep us off our feet if:

      • You have strong grasp of statistical concepts including hypothesis testing, Bayesian inference, and causality.

      • You have in-depth understanding of machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch) for model development and validation.

      • You have proven record of developing predictive models using various machine learning algorithms, tailored to solve marketing challenges.

      • You have experience contributing to a high-performance culture delivering multiple projects, priorities in a fast-paced and growing segment of Walmart ecommerce business.

      • You have affiliate and budget planning experience and understand how fees and commission work together .

      • You have experience driving understanding of customers and their interaction with products through in-depth analyses of user behavior and engagement.

      • You have a track record of solving challenging & transformational analytics and data science problems in scale – applying your skills, experience and leadership to deliver innovative analytics solutions which drive the company forward.

      • You can collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

      • You have experience managing delivery of forecasting models, and related presentation to stakeholders under strict timelines, while understand growth and risk factors of new and future product releases.

      • You have hands on experience and skill communicating complex quantitative information and insights to a broad audience of senior leaders & decision makers.

      • You are curious, proactive and comfortable working in unstructured environments.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics of related filed and 4 years’ experience in data analytics or related field.

      • Expert at SQL and Excel - ability to manipulate large quantities of data to drive business decisions is a must.

      • 2+ years of experience leading cross functional teams and influencing Product, Finance, Business Operations and Engineering.

      • Strong organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and the ability to lead projects, communicate effectively, and be a self-starter.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 10+ years of experience in Marketing Analytics, Digital Analytics, or eCommerce Analytics with experience working with marketers to maximize marketing contribution to business performance goals.

      • 5+ years of experience leading cross functional teams and influencing partner teams.

      • MBA or Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

      • Strong organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership and accountability, and the ability to lead projects, communicate effectively, and be a self-starter.

      • Extensive experience designing and analyzing controlled experiments and observational studies, including multivariate testing and factorial designs

      • Proficiency in experimental design methodologies for marketing campaigns, with the ability to address potential biases and confounding factors. Skilled in evaluating experiment results, identifying statistically significant differences, and making data-backed recommendations.

      • Expertise in feature engineering, model regularization, and hyperparameter tuning to enhance model performance.

      • Experience in developing synthetic control groups for causal impact modeling and measuring intervention effects.

      • Experience and a working understanding of different marketing attribution methodologies (rule-based attribution, multi-touch attribution, Media Mix Models).

      • Polished communication skills with ability to clearly convey complex data and information across a broad landscape of clientele.

      • Passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment.

      • We're moving toward 3 days in the office per week, with flexibility. The team is based across San Bruno, CA, Bentonville, AR, and Hoboken, NJ. For this role, preference will be given to candidates based in or willing to relocate to within commuting distance of one of the 3 offices. For exceptionally strong candidates, remote option can be considered.

      The annual salary range for this position is $184,000.00-$260,000.00

      Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
