      Salary: circa £120,000

Are you someone with a wide and deep knowledge of the private asset classes used by annuity providers? Have strong insurance expertise, and a commercial and dynamic mentality, who wants to play a key role in driving Aviva’s growing annuity business?

Then look no further this role is for you!

      A bit about the job:

This role sits within the Annuity Asset Origination (‘AAO’) team in Aviva UK Life, part of the Chief Investment Officer (‘CIO’) team. This team works very closely with Aviva Investors and a small number of external managers to originate c. £5 billion annually of long-dated, cashflow-matching assets - both public and private - which back our annuity business.

      This individual will:

      • Undertake research into new asset classes, or expansions/variants of existing asset classes (e.g. diversification into new countries or sectors)

      • Propose strategic prioritisation of new asset types

      • Construct proposed allocation allowances / guidelines and, where appropriate, recommendation of investment managers

      • Drive the process of internal approvals of new asset classes through committees, risk forums, regulator engagement, etc, including the writing of investigation papers

      • Ensure that Aviva’s ESG and climate change targets are incorporated into this work

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

      • Knowledge of the lower-risk asset market, especially the private asset space but also covering diverse cashflow-generating asset classes (private and public, physicals and derivatives)

      • Direct experience of working at senior level in, or advising to, an insurance investment or annuities business

      • Direct knowledge of the factors driving insurers’ choices of investment assets and the decision-making processes for asset origination in annuity businesses in a Solvency II context, e.g. matching adjustment eligibility capital treatment, valuation methodology, tax/legal considerations

      • An understanding of credit analysis / due diligence for private assets

      • Strong, proactive communication and collaborator leadership skills, both in written and verbal form, with a track record of building networks and getting agreement from varied colleague groups to innovative new insights

What you will get for this role:

Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues too. And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you. We have so much to offer when it comes to being an Aviva colleague.

      • Salary circa £120,000 depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications

      • Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.

      • Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.

      • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days

      • Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts

      • Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme

      • Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer’s leave

      • Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work

      • Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others
