- Maintain and develop relationships with relevant members of the media.
- Identify opportunities where we can share high-level business stories with the press.
- Come up with new ways, visual or written, to share our message with the press.
- Draft press releases, op-eds and other written materials.
- Lead communications-related projects and ensuring all output are delivered on-time, within scope and budget.
- Take a data-driven approach and collaborate with our analytics team to develop meaningful metrics. Leverage analytics to improve ROI on recommended channel efforts.
- Identify opportunities for visual storytelling to help bring messaging alive in video, presentations, and through imagery.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience in Communications or Public Relations
- Exceptional written, verbal, and social communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, and positive attitude
- Ability to adapt tone and style of communications to suit different specialized and general audiences
- Strong executive presence and experience with executive coaching/counsel
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees, leadership, and external organizations
- Demonstrated success working effectively in cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time and resources, organize, and prioritize work across multiple projects, and work within tight deadlines
- Communications and marketing analysis, including the ability to use data for impact
- Demonstrated agility and adaptability to changes in direction
- Proven ability to balance and deliver on multiple projects
- Strong understanding of Associated Press writing style
- Travel Required: 25%
- Journalism, marketing or defense industry PR experience
- Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
- Agile, adaptable to changes in direction
- Self-starter with a natural curiosity to investigate details and drive deliverables to completion
- Knowledge of, and experience in, the aerospace and defense industry
- Adept at building relationships in a remote environment

Senior Manager, Public Relations
We’re looking for a highly motivated and collaborative communications professional to join our RTX defense public relations team to support media relations for all strategic business units and communications campaigns.
This person will be responsible for engaging with members of the media, developing new relationships with reporters, identifying story ideas, drafting op-eds and press releases, supporting the development of program-related messaging, and managing public response to crises.
The ideal candidate is a creative, driven and enthusiastic communicator who is experienced in strategic media relations and is a strong writer.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
