Job Description

- Independently develops highly credible content for full range of projects across various formats, including, but not limited to, manuscripts, slide kits, newsletters, meeting reports, posters, and other materials; demonstrates in depth understanding of assigned therapeutic areas or willingness to learn assigned areas
- Leads smaller projects and engage with client teams regularly for status updates
- Follows established processes
- Objectively evaluates scientific literature/data and holds responsibility for ensuring the scientific quality and integrity of content in conjunction with the Medical Director
- Researches medical and scientific topics relating to specific therapeutic areas utilizing a variety of information including in-house reference system, on-line journal subscriptions, libraries, and literature search databases
- Participates in and leads discussions regarding medical and strategic content with supporters and KOLs, as appropriate
- Manages projects assigned to freelance medical writers and junior team members, as appropriate
- Assists in program design and the development of outcomes measures for educational activities
- Contributes to organic and de novo new business initiatives
- Serves as an ambassador for scientific services department at external scientific and industry meetings
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with and advanced degree in life sciences, i.e. Pharm D, PhD, MD, DO, DPH strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in medical writing
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, guidelines related to ACCME, PhRMA, FDA, GPP, ICMJE and OIG rules and regulations
- Involvement and/or willingness to learn (from conception through implementation) in a broad spectrum of medical content deliverables, including congress and symposia programming, curriculum development meetings, spin-off materials, peer reviewed publications, conference materials, supplements, grand rounds, speakers bureaus, etc
- Proficiency with suite of Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills required
- Must be able to work independently and handle multiple high priority projects, as well as supporting functions simultaneously and make sound decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills including the ability to interpret and communicate scientific information
- Must be authorized to work in the USA
- Established reputation for excellence, scientific authority and leadership with client, KOLs, and Scientific Services team
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical scientific information
- Ability to effectively present scientific/medical information
- Ability to prioritize job requirements, work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work very well in a team environment
- Ability to lead client calls and small projects
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures

Summary
The Senior Medical Writer takes the lead in exploring diverse therapeutic areas, transforming complex scientific information into compelling, high-quality content tailored to a variety of audiences. This role involves crafting and refining materials across multiple formats—ranging from print to live meetings and digital platforms—while collaborating with design and production teams to deliver impactful, polished deliverables.
The Senior Medical Writer ensures the integrity and accuracy of all projects and business initiatives. This dynamic role involves collaborating with team members at every stage, from researching and brainstorming innovative business opportunities to actively contributing to business development efforts. Additionally, the Senior Medical Writer is instrumental in building lasting relationships with thought leaders and works closely with internal stakeholders to generate fresh ideas and strategic concepts that drive business growth and success.
