      Responsible for leading the agency’s transportation modeling activities and project development and other modeling activities under administrative direction.

      Primary responsibilities will include the following:

      · Leads and coordinates the region’s land use and travel demand models and other modeling activities.

      · Supervises and/or provides task guidance to assistant, associate, or senior transportation engineers or planners and interns.

      · Develops project design, methodology, scheduling, and recommendations for improvements to the travel demand modeling process.

      · Performs travel demand modeling tasks, including model validation and application, network and traffic analysis zone refinement, parameter estimation, traffic analysis, etc.

      · Conducts statistical analysis related to performance of the transportation system, model inputs, and model outputs.

      · Conducts and analyzes field studies and surveys to collect primary data for model purposes.

      · Reviews and interprets transportation data and model outputs and utilizes GIS software in performing GIS analysis.

      · Prepares planning reports and summaries of transportation data and model outputs for use of other MORPC staff, MORPC committees, MORPC members, citizens or other technical or non-technical groups.

      · Responds to member requests and ensures that the program’s and project’s public-facing documentation are maintained.

      · Organizes and facilitates meetings for various programs, initiatives, or forums.

      · Participates in local and state user groups and conferences, as well as other professional development opportunities to maintain technical and subject matter expertise and to keep MORPC as a leader in planning.

      · Works directly with consultants to provide information required for studies to benefit the public.

      · Actively supports MORPC's Affirmative Action Plan, Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, Diversity program, Code of Ethics and other MORPC policies.

      · Conduct environmental justice analysis on federal funded projects.

      · Perform Air Quality Conformity Analysis for programs and projects to check consistency with SIP air quality goals.

      Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, City & Regional Planning, Geography, or other closely related field of study; Plus 24 months of work experience in the job offered or other closely related positions.

      · Work experience or graduate coursework accepted.

      Experiences may be concurrent. Employer is willing to accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and/or training to satisfy the minimum requirements for the position.
