      Overview of position:

      FEDITC is seeking Senior Network Architect to work within 50 miles of Springfield, VA to support the Department of Homeland Security Enterprise Network (DHS HSEN) in modernization, efficiency, and security. The candidate will design, implement, and manage complex network infrastructures and securities with extensive experience in network architecture and a proven track record delivering reliable network solutions that meet stringent government standards.

      Responsibilities:

      • Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level network architectures, including LAN, WAN, VPN, co-located data centers, and cloud-based networks, tailored to DHS requirements.
      • Lead the planning and implementation of network upgrades, ensuring compliance with federal security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
      • Conduct network performance analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize systems for maximum efficiency and uptime.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, systems engineering, and federal stakeholders, to align network solutions with mission objectives.
      • Perform “as is” analyzes of existing network technologies and make recommendations and produce roadmaps of changes as needed to optimize performance and improve network performance.
      • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other senior network engineers and support staff.
      • Review network solution requirements for technical feasibility and conformance to DHS’s network architecture and design standards.
      • Establish effective working relationships with industry vendors to ensure alignment of current and future set requirements.

      Qualifications


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • At least 10 years of network engineering and architecture demonstrated experience in designing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting complex networks within a large enterprise environment.
      • 5+ years’ hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching and firewall technology (e.g., ISR, ASR, CSR, ASA, Nexus, TACACS/ISE)
      • Very strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, and VRF)
      • A strong understanding of MPLS, DMVPN, and SD-WAN required and familiarity with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure).
      • Strong knowledge of routing/switching, firewalls, load balancers and proxy servers
      • High level architectural and operational experience with complex networks.
      • Strong communication skills to interact with technical teams and federal stakeholders.
      • Experience in organizing and leading network requirements facilitation sessions
      • Experience in network monitoring and management tools.
      • Experience in creating and updating network diagrams (Visio)
      • Previous experience supporting federal networks a plus.
      • Willingness to work evenings for network Change Request (CR) implementations and be a part of the on-call rotation for any network incidents that may be escalated from the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) for nights, weekends, and holidays.
      • Must be able to obtain a DHS entry on duty (EOD), U.S. citizen. Active Secret or Top Secret is preferred but not required.

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

      Certifications:

      Required

      • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
      • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

      Desired

      • ITILv4, CompTIA Security+, etc.

      Software/Hardware Desired

      • Palo Alto firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, Bluecoat/Symantec Proxies, SDN/SD-WAN, Cloud (AWS, Azure, O365), SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Unix/Linux, Python, Perl, NetScout, ASA, vASA and FirePower.

      Clearance:

      • DHS BI (EOD)
      • Must be a United States Citizen and pass a background check.
      • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
