      This is a Senior Optical Transport Engineer role on our Data Center and Edge Networks team - we provide a global, superior data network infrastructure for Charles Schwab & Co. The Senior Optical Transport Engineer will work closely with other engineers, service providers, application owners & internal network operations to provide support in the data center and edge network environments.

      • Leading network design and architecture review of global projects.

      What you have


      Required Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of network engineering experience.
      • CCNP/CCIE certification preferred.
      • Experience in managing optical transport platforms Cisco ONS/NCS and Ciena 6500/8700.
      • Experience in configuration and management of Cisco and Arista routing and switching platforms.
      • Strong knowledge of routing protocols BGP and OSPF.
      • Strong knowledge of OTDR/OSA and optical test and diagnostic equipment.
      • Strong knowledge of service provider telecommunications infrastructure design.
      • Experience in design, implementation and troubleshooting of optical carrier technology including SONET/CWDM/DWDM.
      • Experience in evaluating carrier maps and KMZs.
      • ISP and/or carrier backbone engineering experience/knowledge.
      • Knowledge of Cisco EPNM.
      • Strong knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Single mode Fiber, UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, Ethernet and transport technologies and protocols.
      • Advanced knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology. TCP/IP and the OSI model.
      • Experience creating network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
      • Excellent ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
      • Requires excellent problem solving and analytic skills to effectively address the needs of customers, including experience handling problem escalations and notifications.
      • Must possess strong communication skills (oral and written) and technical understanding to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
      • Ability to gather requirements, analyze alternatives, provide cost analysis, test options, configure devices and recommend, document, and communicate highly technical solutions.
      • Experience working in a large enterprise environment with a keen focus around security, availability, resiliency, and performance.
      • Experience building, implementing, and troubleshooting complex LAN and WAN architectures.
      • Knowledge of wide-area network architecture and design concepts
      • Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and deploying large-scale network solutions.
      • Self-motivated, solutions oriented, and pro-active.
      • Experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Programming / Scripting background with knowledge of Python, REST API and Ansible.
      • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, experience adopting or leading continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and frameworks.

      In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
