      Job Description

      INTRODUCTION:

      The Sr. Oracle DBA will be responsible for operational support for various on-premise databases running on Oracle Exadata Platforms, SQL server, MYSQL, PostgreSQL environments. This position requires Oracle database and SQL tuning expertise, through working knowledge of the Oracle Exadata and EXACC platforms, experience working with Platinum support for Exadata/EXACC patching, and capacity planning, installation, integration, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, refreshes, and backup/recovery.

      WHAT YOU’LL DO:

      • Manage Oracle EXACC and Exadata environments both on-premises and on OCI, including coordination with Platinum support and application owners for quarterly patching activities.
      • Perform tuning of critical SQL statements in Oracle Databases within EXACC and Exadata environments.
      • Design, install, configure, patch, and upgrade database server software and related products.
      • Establish and maintain robust recovery and backup policies and procedures.
      • Implement and oversee database security measures, including user and role management and privilege assignment.
      • Ensure data integrity and availability while executing periodic disaster recovery testing.
      • Manage performance, tuning, monitoring, and maintenance of databases.
      • Conduct capacity planning and manage database licensing.
      • Implement database security measures, including encryption, and evaluate database features and related products.
      • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements for databases.
      • Perform database administration for Oracle both on-premises and in the cloud.
      • Handle database administration for SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases across on-premises and cloud environments.
      • Establish and maintain documentation and standards.

      WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems.
      • 5-7 years of progressive IT experience, including Database Administration.
      • Extensive experience with Oracle databases, including tuning SQL statements and managing Oracle Exacc/Exadata environments.
      • Proficiency in Oracle database products such as Real Application Clusters (RAC), Active Data Guard, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
      • Strong background in Oracle RAC Exadata production DBA activities, including installation, configuration, and administration.
      • Skilled in troubleshooting database issues to identify root causes and provide 24x7 support when needed.
      • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions and manage IT infrastructure projects effectively.
      • Thorough understanding of ITIL/ITSM principles for operational service delivery management.
      • Experience collaborating with vendors and service providers.
      • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to present and justify positions at all levels.
      • Proficient in knowledge management, process management, and documentation, including architecture diagrams.
      • Strong time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities and production incidents simultaneously.
      • Experience with Exadata X8-M or higher, Oracle 12c and higher with RAC, Data Warehouse management, Golden Gate, VMware cluster management, and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audit reporting.
      • Familiarity with Database access management (DAM) products, Veritas Netbackup, and automation of database tasks.
      • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, NFS, TCP/IP networking services.
      • Understanding of Database security measures and disaster recovery solutions.
      • Experience in database performance tuning and capacity planning.
      • Knowledge of ITIL processes.

      Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only and based on employees in Canada and may be different in other countries. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations. Our pay range for Canada based candidates for this position is $80,000 -- $103,000 CAD annually. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. Also, certain positions are eligible fo r addition al forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions.
