What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and analyze medical documentation for inpatient, outpatient, and professional services to assign appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes
- Ensure compliance with the Standards of Ethical Coding and adhere to official coding guidelines
- Utilize ICD-10-CM and/or CPT/HCPCS coding classification systems effectively
- Maintain knowledge of MS-DRGs, APCs, MPFS/RVUs, POAs, and HACs relevant to coding practices
- Perform data entry tasks involving repetitive motion with keyboard and mouse
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma required
- Prior coding experience in ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding within an acute care setting
- Certification as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, or CIRCC, or completion within 6 months of employment
- Strong working knowledge of coding classification systems and guidelines
- Ability to meet physical demands associated with the role, including frequent data entry tasks
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate's degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program or Bachelor's from an accredited Health Information Management program
- Familiarity with the 3M encoder and Epic software preferred
