      ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY

      EdTrust seeks a Senior Research & Data Analyst on our P12 team. The Senior Research & Data Analyst will join a staff committed to fulfilling our mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.

      The P-12 Senior Research & Data Analyst will develop and produce policy-informed research products that advance the P-12 division’s work and goals to examine barriers to excellent educational opportunities for students of color and students from low-income backgrounds and identify best practices to address those barriers . The person in this role works with colleagues within and across teams to design projects and develop products (e.g., briefs, presentations, data tools, and research syntheses) related to many of Ed Trust's policy priorities, including equitable resource allocation, ensuring safe and culturally affirming schools, and creating more equitable pathways to college and career.

      Available immediately, this role is based in our Washington, DC office and is eligible for telework for up to 3 days per week. The Senior Research & Data Analyst reports to the Director of P-12 Research and Data Analytics a nd will serve as a member of the Ed Trust National P-12 Research & Data team.

      ABOUT THE ANALYST ROLE

      The responsibilities and objectives for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

      • Develop and conduct descriptive quantitative data analyses – using large datasets and statistical software– to advance the P-12 division’s work and goals
      • Develop and manage qualitative research projects, including developing protocols and developing and executing analysis plans
      • Develop research syntheses on education and policy research from academic and public sources to inform EdTrust policy recommendations and policy priorities
      • Manage the development of reports, briefs, blogs, and other resources to further inform advocates, policymakers, educators, journalists, and other public audiences of Ed Trust’s agenda
      • Serve as a spokesperson for Ed Trust by sharing and elevating findings publicly with various audiences – including advocates, researchers, the media, and policymakers – that align with Ed Trust’s policy priorities of eliminating educational disparities and enhancing student outcomes
      • Elevate Ed Trust’s policy priorities by developing key relationships and representing the organization in external meetings with external stakeholders, peer organizations, researchers, policymakers, funders, and other advocates
      • Respond to rapid response inquiries about policy and/or data analyses from staff, as well as work across teams to respond to policymakers, advocates, the media, and the public
      • Collaborate internally across Ed Trust to support strategic communications and fundraising and grants management, as well as offering relevant assistance to other teams

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

      The ideal candidate will pos sess the following qualifications and experience:

      • At least a bachelor’s degree in education, public policy/administration, or a related field; master’s degree is preferred
      • At least four years of experience conducting and/or analyzing research related to education policy
      • Significant understanding of P-12 education policy , and how systemic inequities shape educational experiences for students of color and students from low-income backgrounds
      • Interest in understanding federal and state policy contexts that affect education
      • Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative research and manage and manipulate large datasets and conduct descriptive analyses using Stata or R, with an emphasis on equity

      COMPENSATION

      This position falls in Level C of our salary structure for our Washington, DC office. New hire offers typically fall between the minimum and mid-point of the range and are rarely offered at the top of this range: $65,680 - $82,100. Offers will be commensurate with skills, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for the position is $65,680 - $98,520.
