      Job Summary

      • The Senior Patient Access Representative is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Patient Access Department, including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial advocacy
      • This role assists the Patient Access Manager in coordinating staff activities, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, and maintaining a high standard of customer service
      • The Team Lead also monitors staff performance, provides training, and resolves operational issues to optimize workflow efficiency

      Essential Functions

      • Monitors daily operations of the Patient Access Department, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
      • Supervises scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and financial advocacy processes
      • Provides guidance, training, and support to staff members
      • Assists in monitoring call center metrics and ensuring timely response to patient inquiries
      • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary
      • Resolves patient billing inquiries and provides cost estimates for services
      • Conducts quality assurance checks to maintain data integrity
      • Communicates with patients, physicians, and other departments to coordinate patient access services
      • Monitors staff performance and provides feedback to the Patient Access Manager
      • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

      Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

      • Strong knowledge of insurance verification, billing, and patient registration processes
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
      • Proficient in healthcare software systems and electronic medical records (EMR)
      • Demonstrates leadership abilities and conflict resolution skills
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

      Qualifications

      Education

      • High school diploma or equivalent required

      Licenses/Certifications

      • None required

      Experience

      • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare registration, scheduling, or patient access required
      • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
