Job Description

- Applies technical proficiency to lead safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
- Assigns and performs operational and compliance tasks (e.g. Field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.).
- Leads trouble shooting efforts to resolve process related deviations and problems and impacts the team's results through effectiveness of own work.
- Leads improvements in plant performance and Operating discipline, including creating, improving, and approving job procedures and provides solutions to analytical or scientific problems in situations that are atypical.
- Analyzes plant inputs to drive process control, asset utilization, conversion costs, production yields, and identifies opportunities for plant optimization.
- Leads and directs process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance.
- Collaborates with engineers and leadership to plan plant turnarounds and set scope for special projects.
- Identifies knowledge gaps and then defines training needs to resolve gaps.
- Participates in Training Review Boards and provides input to the evaluation and approval process.
- Ensures Life Critical Standards are adhered to, drives facility safety and training culture via example.
- Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence
- Strong communication, prioritization and technical skills
- Must be able to work independently and respond urgently to facility issues and emergencies
- Seeks challenges and enjoys overcoming them while helping others
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
- Associate Degree in Process Technology, Chemistry, or related plus 3+ years work experience in a chemical facility operations role
- 4+ years of relevant Military training
- A High School Diploma/GED Equivalent AND 5+ years work experience in a chemical facility operations role
- Lift, push, and pull up to 55 pounds
- Frequently bend, reach, and lift
- Climbing stairs and work in a chemical manufacturing environment
- This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground
- You have a strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Prior pilot plant experience
- Experience with safe work permits and isolation of energy
- Must be able to work independently and possess strong communication/interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable in an environment that routinely deals with a changing projects.

About you and this role
We have an opportunity for an R&D Pilot Plant Technician in our Research and Development Function located in Freeport, Texas.
The Pilot Plant Technician will utilize process knowledge and operations expertise to safely and proficiently operate the Circulating Fluidized Bed Miniplants. The key deliverable is accurate process data and samples that meet timelines to make business decisions. The Pilot Plant Technician performs operations related activities per inputs from trial documents and run procedures. Corrects process or equipment issues and coordinates pilot plant maintenance activities. The work schedule is a rotating shift schedule.
