- Monitor, analyze, and report developments in local, state, and federal government that may affect the office’s operations, policies, and public perception.
- Conduct in-depth high-quality research and analysis to identify best practices and policy solutions for operational improvements and revenue optimization.
- Develop data-driven policy recommendations in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Prepare memos, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Assist with the design and development of actionable and innovative policy solutions to improve the office’s operations and services.
- Work closely and collaboratively with other divisions in the Tax Office to develop policy solutions and analyze the impact of legislation and polices on the office’s operations.
- Advise the Director of Policy and Innovation and senior leadership on policy matters, legislative actions, and government relations strategies.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with County department staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of the office’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with policy priorities.
- Serve as a liaison to other elected offices, county departments, and external stakeholders as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Political Science or related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in relevant positions
- Experience in government, legislative advocacy, nonprofits and/or foundations.
- Relevant work experience conducting policy research and quantitative analysis, analyzing and synthesizing complex data, and preparing memos, reports, plans and proposals.
- Experience developing and successfully implementing policy solutions.
- Research & Analysis: Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate complex issues and data, think critically and creatively, and synthesize information. Proficient in quantitative analysis. Proficient in identifying policy solutions for plan development and implementation.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written communications skills to produce memos, reports and proposals. Ability to distill complex concepts into simple, accessible information for written, oral, and visual communication.
- Government Affairs & Public Policy: Understanding of government operations, policy development, and the ability to analyze and interpret legislative and regulatory issues impacting the office.
- Strategic Thinking: Skill in strategic planning. Ability to think strategically about the relationship between policy and communications.
- Software Application Skills: Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Proficient or basic understanding of data visualization tools and applications.
- Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to navigate through change while remaining flexible and effective under pressure; proactive, self-motivated, and mission driven.
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Political Science or related field from an accredited college or university
