      We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team.

      Where in Wellcome will I be working?

      You will be part of the Experience Design Team within the Digital and Technology department reporting to the Associate Director of Experience Design and joining our supportive community of UX practitioners.

      We work on digital products and services that play a key role in what Wellcome does, from funding, policy and advocacy, Wellcome Collection Museum and Library, internal and data tools. By focusing on the people who use those products, you will help ensure they are solving real problems .

      What will I be doing?

      As part of the Experience Design team in Digital & Technology, the Senior Product Designers work with multidisciplinary agile teams and staff across Wellcome to develop digital products and services that make a difference to users . As senior practitioners, they are responsible for the quality of design outputs and evolving our design practices and techniques to improve user experience. They advocate for a user-centred approach and coach other practitioners in user-centred design.

      You’ll love thinking about the end-to-end user journey and all stages of the product lifecycle. You’re keen to experiment and continue learning how to design, measure and improve user experience. You’ll like working with teams and stakeholders to understand the bigger picture and how to evolve services that address real world challenges and opportunities. You’ll enjoy sharing knowledge and supporting other practitioners to develop their skills and deliver quality work.

      As a Senior Product Designer, you will:

      • Lead design thinking on ways to understand and evaluate end-to-end user journeys in order to identify opportunities to test, iterate and improve user experience

      • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, researchers and developers to create, evaluate and iterate products and services

      • Advocate for user-centred design across products and services, seeking opportunities to share your experiences and secure senior stakeholder buy-in

      • Rapidly craft, test and iterate concepts and prototypes, understanding when a lo-fi sketch will do the job, and knowing when to add more detail

      • Manage and/or mentor designers and other user-centred practitioners to develop their skills and assure and improve design practices

      • Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

      We are looking for someone who has:

      • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of work across multiple projects and products and e xtensive knowledge and understanding of user-centred design methods

      • Experience working on digital products or services that serve a wide range of users

      • Knowledge of inclusive design practices and how to ensure products meet accessibility targets

      • Extensive experience of using prototypes to explore ideas, communicate design options, decisions, and test designs with real users

      • The ability to identify and produce design deliverables, from sketching to prototypes, and integrate design work into agile ways of working

      • Knowledge of evaluating and iterating user experience and the roles content and context can play in the end-to-end journey

      Our Hybrid Way of Working

      We understand that our colleagues have commitments and personal interests outside of work and we strive to build a flexible working environment, in which people can perform at their best. We are currently working 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from our Euston Road offices (as part of our hybrid Ways of Working) with the remaining 3 days working either remotely or in the office.

      From 1st September 2024 we will move to 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
