- taking ownership of your assigned features, creating a roadmap for the evolution of your feature and establishing yourself as the feature owner
- collaborate with partners to ensure the digital vision and product aligns with our strategy
- contributing to the development of strategic, and value-based product roadmaps/backlog through multiple time horizons (short, medium and long-term views)
- contribute to priorities and direction and function as a product advocate across the company
- facilitating discussions with stakeholders regarding features in development, obtaining feedback, to make decisions on MVP and adjust user stories accordingly to close the feedback loop with stakeholders
- demonstrating your market and industry knowledge to transform user needs into requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team
- explaining the ‘What’ and ‘Why’ to the delivery squad and stakeholders through use of storyboards and other tools available
- be the voice of the customer for the development team, and the voice of the developer for the business teams
- understand customer needs to create value-based user stories for the development team
- ensure existing digital properties meet our performance & scalability requirements
- clearly identifying acceptance criteria, assumptions, risks and dependencies along with owning the acceptance testing in conjunction with business partners
- conducting analysis and incorporate findings, feedback and insights from customer and business research
- leverage metrics and analytics to report on the health of your features
- developing and maintaining appropriate tracking and reporting of features post-launch to evaluate future investment

- 5+ years of relevant work experience in product ownership
- Knowledge and experience working with scrum/agile frameworks along with common tools such as Confluence, JIRA, release planning
- Experience working in the Insurance industry or Financial Advisor environments
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills while working in a face-paced environment with changing priorities
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate business needs to technical resources
- Ability to influence and resolve conflict without having direct authority; confidence to raise issues as required
- Ability to champion positive relationships and successfully lead various sized groups to attain collaborative and innovative solutions
- Proactively identify potential problems to prevent unfavorable outcomes
- Adaptable and interest in change; reprioritize conflicting workloads and deliverables

Reporting to the Director - Sponsor/Advisor Experiences, this role will be part of the Group Benefits Customer Experience team responsible to drive forward the execution of our strategy and vision for our digital channels. You will be helping us to realize our aspirations to become a Digital Customer Leader maximising tools and capabilities to provide experiences that delight our consumers.
What role will I play?
As a Senior Product Owner within the Group Benefits Customer Experiences team, you will demonstrate critical thinking with an ability to handle dependencies while identifying, building and leading strategic partnerships with various team members. Your collaborative nature will bring together internal players from various functions including, but not limited to Technology, Operations, Sales, User Research & Design, Marketing, Compliance and Risk. You possess an excellent balance of analytical, communication, and leadership skills and challenging others to continually improve our offering.
You will be accountable for all aspects of your owned features including but not limited to the roadmap, feature health, requirements definition, delivery and validation. Leaning into your SAFE agile principles and experience, you will partner closely with the delivery squads breaking down and planning the work, ensuring that the requirements are timely, well understood, stories defined and backlogs prioritized. This is a fast paced, changing environment where every day brings something new, and innovative ideas and fun are encouraged.

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Salary range is expected to be between
$78,975.00 CAD - $142,155.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
