      The Role:

      We are hiring an experienced, dynamic Project Manager who is highly collaborative, detail oriented and self-directed to join the Workplace group. As a Project Manager, you will manage critical projects working in a collaborative environment with product management, technology, and operations (including our corporate functions such as Finance Transformation, IT, Talent & Culture) globally to ensure successful delivery.

      An ideal candidate has a strong background coordinating the work of globally distributed teams on complex projects. Experience owning, planning, and driving projects to completion including the oversight of multiple project plans and key metrics, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical.

      This is a hybrid role, requiring three days a week in our corporate office in downtown Chicago.

      Responsibilities:

      • Develop an in-depth understanding of our products and services.
      • Develop an in-depth understanding of our business processes, corporate systems and infrastructure.
      • Create and oversee project timelines, tasks/responsibilities, and deliverables for assigned projects working with various global delivery teams on implementation.
      • Communicate regular project status updates across all stakeholder groups.
      • Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks.
      • Work with external and internal project stakeholders to define and document project scope, detailed functional, non-functional, and technical requirements when needed.
      • Partner with groups throughout Morningstar to proactively manage dependencies.
      • Cultivate a culture of team collaboration along with open and honest communication.
      • Analyze key metrics impacting project progress and/or project team performance and work with the business to resolve any issues/impediments.
      • Focus on continuous process improvement through feedback loops, coaching, retrospectives, and individual improvement to help the team achieve optimal performance.
      • Understand, adopt, and drive Morningstar’s Agile Scrum framework a nd serve as Scrum Master in managing sprints and working with team members to resolve issues and eliminate roadblocks where needed.

      Qualifications:

      • A bachelor’s degree is required.
      • Prior project management experience in software development - 3+ years.
      • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
      • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
      • Proven success and flexibility in facilitating global team collaboration.
      • Strong leadership, communication, time management, problem solving, and analytical skills.
      • Ability to influence decision-making processes and foster an environment of healthy team debate.
      • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and can keep a team on track.
      • Effective at coaching teams and providing feedback to stakeholders/executives.
      • Possess strong active listening skills and demonstrate critical thinking.
      • Experience with traditional and agile project-management frameworks.
      • Strong knowledge of Agile practices including demonstrated experience in applying an Agile mindset. Agile certification is a plus.
      • Hands-on experience with online project management software including Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, etc.), Asana, or similar.
