      How you'll make an impact

      Actuarial Consulting provides a variety of high-quality services to clients through structured engagements requiring actuarial expertise.

      These services may include:

      • Preparation and interpretation of risk data, design of insurance or retirement plans, calculation of plan premiums, determining cash reserves and premium rates necessary to ensure sufficient funds for benefits payment and profitability.
      • Primarily focused on taking the lead in projects counseling management and advising on retirement, benefit, or underwriting projects that require actuarial or mathematical techniques to determine appropriate courses of action.
      • Participates in the rate-making, reserving, and risk evaluation functions; Assures preparation and interpretation of data for complex purposes and external stakeholders; Determines rates of mortality, sickness, retirement, etc. based on analysis of statistical data; Assists in design of insurance, retirement, or benefit plans; Reviews complex actuarial calculations and reports, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance; Manages and conducts research projects and communicates findings to others under minimal supervision; Provides higher level technical support to actuarial staff; Acts as an actuarial liaison to other departments; May provide guidance to lower level staff; Interacts frequently with clients, delivering reports and developing relationships.
      • Responsible for making recommendations or implementing solutions to enhance client satisfaction and portfolio growth.
      • Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
      • Works independently under limited supervision.
      • Works to achieve client and project targets with significant impact on function level results.
      • Works independently or with a team on larger, moderate to complex client projects/ engagements.
      • May be responsible for entire projects or processes for client engagements.
      • Often leads the work of small project teams; may formally train junior staff.

      About You

      Required:

      • Bachelor's degree; 5 years related experience.
      • Knowledge in relevant regulations where appropriate to role (e.g., state and federal benefits regulations, underwriting, benefit or insurance products).

      Desired:

      • Professional accreditation as Associate, Society of Actuaries (ASA) and/or Fellow, Society of Actuaries (FSA), or Fellow of the IFoA (FIA or equivalent.

      Work Traits:

      • Demonstrates strong Project management skills; Communication skills; Analytical skills; Attention to detail; Financial acumen; Business acumen.
