      Senior Publishing Relations Manager – Serial Content

      About Our Team

      The Senior Publishing Relations Manager – Serial Content is part of the Content & Data Sourcing team within the Data Operations department.

      The Content & Data Sourcing team (CDS) ensures & determines the acquisition and licensing strategy of third-party content in a wide range of Elsevier products. We are looking for a proactive and experienced Relations Manager with a passion for negotiating. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining solid relationships with third-party content partners, managing advanced negotiations, promoting the inclusion of third-party content in Elsevier products, and ensuring the rights and permissions are formalized contractually.

      About The Role

      The Senior Publishing Relations Manager – Serial Content acts as gatekeeper; effectively ensuring Elsevier's best practices for the use and display of third-party serial content, safeguarding Elsevier's reputation as well as content partners' intellectual property.

      The Senior Publishing Relations Manager – Serial Content will also contribute to the enhancement of our CX journeys, addressing paint points in relation to the acquisition of serial content (e.g., journals, book series).

      You are a diplomatic and culturally sensitive individual with a strong analytical mind and business acumen who can close deals with confidence and fulfill long-term strategic goals. You are team player with excellent communications skills. You will be based in Chennai and report to the Team Leader – Publishing Relations Management – Serial Content.

      Responsibilities:

      Relationship management

      1) Develop the value proposition and strategic communication plan regarding the outreach to external content partners.

      2) Facilitates the continuous content expansion of Elsevier products.

      3) Act as a gatekeeper; effectively ensuring Elsevier's best practices for the use and display of third-party content, safeguarding Elsevier's reputation as well as content partners' intellectual property.

      4) Manage multiple competing activities with fluctuating deadlines and dependencies on work by other business units and third parties.

      5) Customer experience (CX) enthusiast who delivers a smooth, unfragmented and consistent customer experience across all touchpoints and at all stages of the customer lifecycle.

      Supporting content growth

      1) Drive and execute initiatives supporting serial content growth.

      2) Engagement with internal stakeholders and addressing paint points in relation to the acquisition of serial content (e.g., journals, book series).

      3) Liaise with existing third-party content providers about internal data improvement requests (to approved business cases) to ensure optimal quality.

      4) Initiate new content delivery set up, and facilitate transitions in content delivery platforms, format, etc., to ensure continued completeness and currency.

      5) Manage the lifecycle of licensing process including renewal activities for selected content partners.

      Solid knowledge of serial content is required.

      Successful relationship experience with relevant market sectors is desired.

      Proficiency in Salesforce is a plus.

      3. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences (and any other requirements)

      8+ years of proven commercial experience, preferably in an international matrix organization.

      Bachelor or Master degree in the subject.

      Lots of energy, enthusiasm and a passion for negotiating and closing deals.

      A thorough understanding of the world of research and an affinity with its key players.

      An independent, strategic and results-driven mindset, with a high level of attention to detail, as well as a customer-focused approach.

      Excellent verbal and written English communications skills.
