      A role in

      Food Safety, Quality, & Regulatory (FSQR) means supporting programs and processes that help Target succeed by consistently delivering safe, high quality, and compliant food and beverages. As a Sr. Quality Ripener, you will support Target’s Food & Beverage strategy in collaboration with the Inventory Management/Control and Inbound and Outbound Operations teams. You will lead home Food Distribution Center (FDC) operational methods and procedures related to the banana quality management program. You will identify, evaluate, and implement efficiencies to achieve desired results in the areas of banana quality inspections, forecast and planning ripening cycles to account for demand, actual ripening, inventory, and supervise post ripening handling. We will support you along the way with robust onboarding, as well as personal and career development, to help you grow as a strong Sr. Quality Ripener. You will have resources available to you as you leverage technology, metrics, reporting, and communication to monitor and drive compliance in this critical area.       • Perform banana inspections to ensure product meets all required Target specifications such as banana maturity

      • Conduct banana room’s evaluation to determine next ripening action and ensure proper documentation at the front end and back end of each workday

      • Anticipate, identify, and react promptly to product quality risks and changes in ripening demands. Use analytical skills and judgement to manage actionable root cause remediation to inventory ripeness and provide timely escalation

      • Develop schedule to manage successful ripening key controls and cadence for each inbound delivery

      • Drive ripening continuous improvement through documented process maps to comply and maintain Target requirements

      • Work with the Target HQ teams assigned to each commodity to fulfill their daily store order projections

      • Determine delivery dates and provide HQ teams schedule to support daily outbound projections

      • Influence the FDC Inbound and Outbound teams and provide clear direction for proper loading and unloading of banana rooms and plan for daily room selection-staging and return

      • Provide daily performance compliance metric reports such as ripening board, withdrawal, and Target shipping room reports

      • In tandem with HQ and FDC Transportation teams, alert to any off-schedule deliveries

      • Collaborate with home FDC’s stakeholders to ensure that room maintenance, sanitation, equipment, and supply requirements are managed to meet successful ripening demands

      • Communicate any coverage concerns with FDC QC Operations Manager

      • Other responsibilities to support the home FDC and FSQR teams, as assigned

      About you:

      • Advanced degree, four-year degree or equivalent experience

      • 3-5 years of experience as a Banana Ripening Specialist

      • Strong technical root cause analysis and the ability to leverage quality data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement efficiencies

      • Strong growth mindset and stakeholders collaboration at varying levels while valuing and actively seeking diverse perspectives for negation and problem solving

      • Ability to perform through ambiguity, manage multiple tasks, potential risks and deliver consistently against timelines

      • Ability to lead or influence high-performing teams

      • Strong written and verbal communication skills and self-motivation

      • Works independently with limited direction

      • Excellent project management skills with strong technical and analytical aptitude

      • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

      Working Environment:

      • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs

      • Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures (32-50°) while working within FDC’s
