- Design, develop and maintain system for the automated commercialization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in several US ISO markets.
- Model short term power markets dynamics to feed into decision making at the trading desks, incl. algorithmic trading decisions.
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain algorithms in production environments.
- Support the development and improvement of market optimization strategies, calibration and position management techniques.
- Provide quantitative ad hoc support, e.g. developing offline systems and tooling for statistical analysis, or analysis and evaluation of physical/financial transactions.
- Build and maintain relationships with experts across the group (e.g. cloud architects, embedded software team, or weather and market analysis teams) to understand business needs and provide solutions.
- (Several years of) professional experience in a quantitative role in a commodity-trading house, utility or banking environment.
- Advanced numerate degree (e.g. M. Sc. in finance, maths, sciences, statistics, engineering or quantitative economics).
- Experience in using numerical methods in a trading environment, ideally convex and mixed integer optimization, multivariate time series forecasting, and/or complex derivative pricing.
- (Several years of) programming experience in an object-oriented language (preferably Python or C#).
- Experience in the power markets, ideally with exposure to battery storage, congestion markets, and / or hedging of renewable generating assets.
- Commercially focussed, pragmatic attitude to work, strong quantitative background. Excellent communication skills.
- Results-oriented personality. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English.
- Being able to work autonomously, while also being a good team player.
- Phd in finance, maths, sciences, statistics, engineering or quantitative economics.
- First experience with cloud resources and serverless technology.

The Applied Structuring team is part of the Structuring&Valuation department and is responsible for quantitative support for trading desks and origination teams in Europe and the US. We are now looking for a new colleague to support RWEST’s expanding business. The role has a focus on the US Renewables markets. It is based with the trading teams in Chicago (no remote position, hybrid working possible).
RWEST Americas manages a growing portfolio of renewables production capacity and electricity storage assets. Trading activities are centred around various ISOs across the US (e.g. ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, PJM).Your responsibilities
