  • Job Description

      Req#: R509350
      Work Flexibility: Onsite

      Who We Want:

      • Analytical problem solvers. People who go beyond just fixing to identify root causes, evaluate optimal solutions, and recommend comprehensive upgrades to prevent future issues.
      • User-focused creators. Engineers who design with the user in mind, developing products that help change patients’ lives.
      • Collaborative partners. People who build and leverage cross-functional relationships to bring together ideas, information, use cases, and industry analyses to develop best practices.

      What You Will Do:

You will be joining Stryker Endoscopy’s R&D Test team. We partner closely with Design and Systems to experiment with early prototypes and vet out product designs throughout the product development process. What this really means, is we get to be the Mythbusters of our division. Just like the show, we quickly design and build fixtures to simulate real life situations. This experimentation is mission critical to find the issues when we can solve them and prevent them from impacting our customers and ultimately patients. You will directly be making healthcare better.

As a Senior R&D Test Engineer, Electrical, we’ll need you to consider high-speed data transmission, data integrity, reliability, durability, power consumption, interconnectivity, and a large variety of clinical, global use cases. You will partner closely with the embedded software test team to consider the products holistically and target functionality that is hardware, software, and firmware dependent. In addition to this hands-on experimentation and test engineering, you will also be responsible for design verification: from creating initial test plans through documenting results in test reports that are included in regulatory submissions. Communication and coordination are essential skills as you will share and coordinate samples, test execution, test results, and timelines with a cross-functional project team. Leadership activities may include leading the testing on an entire product (including overseeing non-electrical testing) and/or managing an intern(s), specialist(s), or other test engineer(s).

      What You Will Need:

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering with at least 2 years of related experience
      • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
      • Demonstrated electrical problem-solving skills
      • Exhibit integrity, initiative, dependability, and independence
      • Experience with common electrical test methods and equipment

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Video & FPGA product development experience and familiarity with associated standards
      • Test engineering experience in medical device or other regulated industry
      • Development, execution, and documentation of component and system level testing to detect and track defects, inconsistencies, and assess performance
      • Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigations supported by statistical analysis
      • Design controls and QMS knowledge
      • Ability to build collaborative relationships quickly
      • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
      • Automation experience: preferably LabView & NI, python, and/or Arduino

$ 76,000 - $ 106,000 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

      Our Team

In addition to your project team and the Embedded Systems Test Team, you will be a part of Endoscopy’s R&D Test team. We are a diverse, close-knit team of engineers, specialists, and managers. Our experience ranges from
