- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in parks and recreation, outdoor and environmental recreation, athletics/sports, or related field, and two (2) years of experience in parks and recreation, outdoor and environmental recreation, athletics/sports, or related field; OR
- High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience parks and recreation, outdoor and environmental recreation, athletics/sports, or related field.
- When assigned to Environmental Recreation, specific nursery and landscape management principles and techniques, i.e., grafting, tree removal and trimming and planting procedures, identification and maintenance of local native plants, established local landscape ordinances.
- Must possess or obtain cash handling training, if applicable, within ten (10) days of hire or promotion.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
- Training and certification in state-mandated education courses, CPR, First Aid, 30-Hour HRS Child Care, 5-Hour HRS Owner/Operator, HIV and Bloodborne Pathogens, and HIPAA depending on the area of assignment within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.
- Performs/assists in planning, organizing, promoting and implementing assigned programs and activities, i.e., stage productions, large-scale special events, pre-school youth programs, special populations programs, senior programs, athletic programs, boating, fishing, marine-based programming, outdoor/environmental educations and stewardship, leagues, tournaments, exhibitions, parties, tours and target population group trips.
- Oversees the daily operation and maintenance of a center, facility and/or park(s).
- Determines program needs based on population served and community interests, prepares and reviews program evaluations, researches trends in program areas and determines price structure for programs offered.
- Oversees indoor and outdoor activities according to assigned program(s) guidelines and objectives.
- Collects, records and deposit fees and maintains appropriate accounting according to established departmental policy and procedure.
- Performs considerable record and report maintenance duties according to supervisor's directives and established city or state laws applicable to program(s) under charge.
