      Your Specific Responsibilities:

      This is an independent Registered Nurse position assigned primarily to a clinic area under the direct supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor. This position works in a clinical setting but may require fieldwork. Ensures that data set (s) under this position’s responsibilities are available to those who need to know and protects the integrity of assigned dataset(s) and assists the Security Coordinator as needed to comply with policies and procedures described in Security Policy 3 - areas of responsibilities.

      CLINIC SERVICES: Promotes and maintains health of individuals, families, and community through appropriate preventative and rehabilitative measures, provides comprehensive nursing in Immunization Clinic, Integrated Clinic (Family Planning/Title X, Primary Care, Improved Pregnancy Outcome Program, and Sterilization Referral Clinic) and Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic. These services include childhood and adult immunizations, growth, and development monitoring, assessing of vital signs, counseling, health screening, health education, referrals, and follow-up of the referrals, maintaining quality records in the clinic or community setting, and collecting of laboratory specimen. Precept’s students/residents and trains new staff as requested by supervisor. Acts as a Positive role model to other Escambia CHD staff. Assists with other clinic duties as assigned.

      SUPPORT SERVICES: Maintains comprehensive quality records, collects and reports pertinent data to nursing and department supervisors and physicians; provides appropriate case follow-up; participates in case conferences; confers with other professionals; formulates and evaluates care plans, assists in record reviews and QI projects: recognizes and understands the changes in the community and nursing practice which affects community health unit programs/plans; serves as a staff advisor to student affiliates and new nurses. Follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccine Storage and handling guidelines and assist with Vaccine monitoring and inventory duties.

      OTHER RELATED DUTIES: Other related duties, which may include clinic and emergency assignments as required.

      Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques.

      • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

      • Knowledge of community resources.

      • Ability to administer medications.

      • Ability to provide preventive health care and treatment to groups.

      • Ability to assist in planning and conducting a variety of training activities.

      • Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems.

      • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

      • Ability to communicate effectively.

      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

      • Ability to teach basic health care.

      • Proficient with computers (i.e. Word, Excel, ect.).

      Qualifications: Currently hold an active Florida RN license or multistate license from another Compact State.
