      Job summary

      We are seeking a Senior Registered Nurse to join our dynamic inpatient team on Dufferin Ward at The Horder Centre. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a passionate nurse with strong clinical expertise, particularly in orthopaedics, and a desire to contribute to exceptional patient care in an award-winning, supportive environment.

      Acting as a clinical role model, mentor, and leader, you will support the Ward Sister and wider team in maintaining exceptional standards of patient care, ensuring smooth daily operations, and contributing to the continuous development of the service.

      This position includes shift-based work (days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays) and is ideal for an experienced, proactive nurse with a strong background in orthopaedics or surgical care, looking to step into or continue in a leadership role.

      Main duties of the job

      A Senior Registered Nurse brings advanced clinical expertise, proven leadership, and a proactive approach to improving service delivery. Unlike a general Registered Nurse, a Senior Nurse:

      • Leads shifts and supervises the multidisciplinary team.
      • Acts as a clinical escalation point and supports junior staff.
      • Takes responsibility for operational efficiency during out-of-hours periods.
      • Drives quality improvement through audits and governance initiatives.
      • Plays an active role in service development, mentoring, and change management.
