Lead research initiatives in AI ethics related to fairness, accountability and transparency
Manage a team of research scientists and engineers i n the US, Switzerland , and Japan to execute ambitious AI projects
Provide advice and consultation for business units on AI ethics, managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships
Investigate new algorithms to solve fundamental AI ethics problems
Write code to support research, usually in python and/or C++
Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences
Write papers for and give presentations at academic conferences
Passion to develop cutting-edge AI ethics technology and deploy it through a multi-stakeholder approach.
Background in Machine Learning (PhD or equivalent experience) with a track record of relevant academic publications, patents, and/or open-source software.
3 years of industry work experience after PhD or post-doc, with p roven business impact in past industry role
Experience managing teams of researchers
Experience working effectively with different AI ethics stakeholders, such as users and product, engineering, legal, and compliance business units to execute large, complex projects .
Publication record in algorithmic fairness, accountability, and transparency, especially around detecting and mitigating bias in computer vision , speech processing technologies , and/or generative AI technologies .
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, including the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in AI Ethics - specifically Fairness, Transparency, and Accountability (FTA). Sony has many real-world AI applications at the intersection of entertainment and technology , and we are looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to research, develop and deploy techniques for FTA .

The anticipated annual base salary for this position in the US is $170,000 to 210,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
