      The position will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department/service.

      SESLHD covers nine Local Government Areas from Sydney's Central Business District to the Royal National Park and has a culturally and linguistically diverse population of over 930,000 people, which includes highly urbanised areas of eastern Sydney, southern Sydney and industrialised areas around Port Botany.

      SESLHD covers urban and suburban communities and manages eight public hospitals and one public nursing home:

      • Sutherland Hospital
      • Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital

      SESLHD also operates 28 Child and Family Health Centres, 12 Community Health Centres and nine Oral Health Clinics; providing prevention, early intervention and community-based treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation services.

      Drug and Alcohol, Mental Health, Breast screening, HIV/AIDS, Public Health, Women's Health, Youth Health, Sexual Health, Imaging and Pathology services are provided at a number of facilities across

      The primary location of this position will be, St George Hospital.

      Rotations available: speciality medicine, speciality surgery, psychiatry, emergency, O&G, paediatrics, ICU and rural Griffith (emergency and general medicine).

      Important information:

      2. This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy PD2024_015 .
        Successful applicants to the role must provide vaccination history and pathology as part of the application documentation, and be certified as compliant before employment can commence. A link will be provided once deemed successful



      1. MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
      2. Must have completed at least 2 Post Graduate years in a Hospital with a minimum of 12 months experience working as a medical officer (not observer) in an Australian Public Hospital.
      3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement with a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
      4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team as shown by diligence, punctuality, organisational/ record keeping, time management, problem solving, empathy, teamwork, professional manner.
      5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and computer skills and demonstrated experience with negotiating with people at all levels of the health system.
      6. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in afterhours overtime and on-call rosters.
      7. Preparedness to work in our Rural Rotation & other hospitals within Network 8
      8. Demonstrated evidence of continued professional development with a commitment to self-education and experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff.
