- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
- Demonstrated interest and competence in emergency medicine.
- Completion of a minimum two postgraduate years and significant experience in an Australian Emergency Department or equivalent. Paediatric and ICU experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.

Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Senior Resident Medical Officer to join the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH).

Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus as well as from Institute of Rheumatology and Orthopaedics, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Dame Edith Walker Hospitals. RPAH is one of Australia's leading hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services. Its specialities include cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cancer, respiratory medicine, neurology, liver and kidney transplants.
What you'll be doingThe primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent. It will be of interest for trainees interested in gaining the prerequisite experience to apply for Emergency Medicine training with ACEM, as well as those seeking to enhance their critical care skills.
