      POSITION PURPOSE:

      The Senior Risk Manager, Safety Training and Security provides critical safety support to our Operations team. This individual is responsible for developing and executing safety training programs, through a mix of modules, in person training, monthly lesson plans, and regular communications. They are a first responder in the event of an emergency, ensuring Operations has support and guidance in navigating the situation. This person also manages Security programs at EPL through a mix of vendor and technology solutions and serves as a point of contact with law enforcement when needed. This position is a dedicated business partner within the support center and may support other initiatives as needed.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Develop and implement the Company’s safety training programs, including those for new hires, monthly and annual refreshers, and those presented at Area Leader meetings.
      • Identify and conduct targeted training for those restaurants or Areas with negative safety trends, both in person and virtually.
      • Lead the safety and security emergency response for the Company, including leading calls on the Company’s emergency response line.
      • Manage monthly safety tasks for the restaurants, ensuring timely completion through effective communication of expectations. Collaborate with Operations to develop and disseminate relevant materials, proactively communicate expectations, follow up, and provide ongoing support to ensure compliance Manage the Company’s safety incentive and charge-back programs with data driven criteria that is clearly communicated and fairly administered. Serve as a liaison with finance on incentives and charge backs to ensure timely execution.
      • Create and maintain a safety scorecard, fostering regular communication with the Operations team to relay relevant information and insights. Develop and maintain security programs for both Field Operations and the Corporate Support Center, including managing relationships with key vendors in alarm systems, security cameras, virtual guard services, and security guard vendors.
      • Partner with law enforcement and security specialists as needed to protect the Company and its employees.
      • Conduct workplace injury investigations by interviewing employees and gathering evidence (including video footage); maintaining records per company protocols. Provide recommendations to the Risk Department, Operations, or Legal team on findings.
      • Partner with Human Resources and Field Operations to ensure safety policies are followed.
      • Analyze data and loss trends to develop policy recommendations and corrective actions based on loss runs, safety audit reports, safety, and security compliance data.
      • Manage the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), and any OSHA required updates to the IIPP.
      • Provide subject matter expertise on OSHA compliance, including reporting requirements; manage all OSHA reports, inquiries or investigations. Direct all OSHA compliance programs.
      • Other activities, duties or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

      QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

      Education/Work Experience:

      Minimum 7+ years’ experience of Safety & Loss Prevention with heavy focus in risk management. A relevant degree is a plus, and a willingness to expand knowledge and effectiveness in Safety and Loss Control by attending continuing education classes in various topics. Effective verbal and written communication (Bilingual-Spanish/English a plus). Experience in multi-unit retail/hospitality preferred.

      License/Certifications:

      Posses and maintain a valid driver's license

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Expert knowledge of OSHA, state/federal laws, and other safety and security-based regulations.
      • Ability to respond to emergency situations, while maintaining a calm composure and ability to make analytical fact-based decisions.
      • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.
      • Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.
      • Ability to read, write, and interpret complex reports, documents, and correspondence.
      • Adept at managing and prioritizing competing time sensitive requests while working well in a team atmosphere that may be under pressure.
      • Ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance to the company.
      • Ability to exercise discretion in working with and maintaining highly confidential and sensitive information.
      • High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, including excel, Adobe Acrobat, customized database applications, and internet research tools.
      • Must be willing to respond to emergency situations outside of regular work hours when needed.
      • Must be willing and able to travel locally within Southern California and to out-of-state restaurant locations, as needed by car or airplane.

      The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. Individual pay will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.
