Job Description

- Coordinate and complete research and development assignments; make sound technical judgments and suggestions
- Schedule and prepare work in relation to general program schedule
- Test and evaluate work; confer with senior staff as needed
- Applies scientific method and experimental design in problem solving
- Uses scientific expertise to provide solutions to a broad range of difficult problems, solutions should be thorough and practical
- Maintains accurate, precise, and legible laboratory notebooks
- Writes reports and technical summaries
- Prepare technical reports and documentation
- Provide recommendations for new product development; work to see recommendations through to completion
- Maintain accurate in-depth knowledge of the scientific principles; keep current on new industry developments
- Contribute to scientific discussions pertinent to the Company’s products and developmental goals
- Prepare scientific reports for publications in peer reviewed journals
- Provide advance technical support to Manufacturing and Technical Services as required
- Ensure and maintain compliance with the Company’s quality system requirements through training and adherence to policies, procedures, and processes
- May be responsible for representing the Company to outside vendors/suppliers, etc.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
- Responsible for cross-functional collaboration for technical solutions in new product development and released product support projects.
- Frequent inter-organizational and outside contacts. May represent the company to outside organizations on technical issues.
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Ph.D. degree in a scientific discipline, or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years previous experience previous medical research experience required
- Must be able to work with advanced techniques, to modify and/or extend theory and practices
- Excellent technical writing and documentation, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and presentation skills are essential
- Computer literacy required; knowledge of Microsoft Office (including extensive Excel skills) and experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) and electronic data management systems required
- Ability to be flexible and to think creatively to problem solve and develop products is essential
- 5% domestic travel may be erequired
Overview
Position Summary:
The Senior Scientist, Assay Development works on an array of complex and novel assignments requiring innovative thinking and ideas. This individual will contribute to problem solving activities as well as creative processes in developing new or improved techniques and procedures and/or refined equipment, processes, products, and/or scientific methods.
The salary range for this position is currently $120,000-$145,000 annually. Individual compensation is based on the candidate’s qualifications for the position, including experience, skills, knowledge, education, certifications, internal equity, budget, and/or other business and organizational needs.
This is an in-office role located at our Whole Blood Hemostasis center in San Diego, CA.
