Job Description

- Provides information on classes, activities and community resources; registers new members for centers, programs and services; answers questions or concerns.
- Answers multi-line phone system, provides information, transfers calls, takes messages, or directs to appropriate staff.
- Operates a desktop computer, performing word processing, developing/maintaining spreadsheets, inputting data, maintaining databases; and creates flyers.
- Assists with activity calendar and activities when needed. Schedules classes for participants.
- Coordinates and schedules trips for seniors to and from the center in the Trips database system.
- Communicates with supervisor, county employees, clients, public and other individuals needed to coordinate work activities, exchange information and/or resolve issues.
- Research information, community resources and participate at community events that are of benefit to senior adults.
- Maintains basic first aid and CPR certification; remains aware of surroundings and responds as needed.
- Researches and provides learning enrichment tools and resources for the seniors.
- Processes personal and confidential information for heating/cooling, water assistance and supportive services for seniors.
- Attends mandatory meetings and trainings to include mandated reporting, FEMA, fire safety, computer software/security programs, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of local government operations, Senior Services related programs, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.
- Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to meet and deal with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner.
- Ability to get along with others, and work effectively with the public and co-workers.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evening meetings.
- Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines.
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
- Ability to work with and process payments for accounts within the budget and department.
- Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and accounting purposes.
- Ability to operate a copying machine.
The purpose of this position is to serve as the first point of contact for the department when senior adults call to request information, services, or referrals to other agencies.
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must maintain Basic First Aid and CPR certifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.
