      What you'll be doing
      The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’ . SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

      The Senior Social Worker will provide a Social Work service within the SESLHD Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Team to develop the skills, confidence and experience of mainstream health staff in SESLHD, ISLHD and NBMLHD to meet the health needs of people with intellectual disability in the longer term. The model of care for the specialised intellectual disability health teams comprise of two streams of activity, A) clinical care and b) building the skills, experience and confidence of mainstream health staff

      The team will develop an outreach service to ISLHD and NBMLHD that may include;
      • Clinics with local clinicians for joint face-to face client consultation including conduct of a comprehensive health assessment,
      • Joint client consultations by telehealth with local clinicians,
      • Skills training with local NSW Health staff

      Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

      All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

      A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

      In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

      Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

      1. Social Work qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligible for membership with the AASW.
      2. Evidence of clinical experience as a practising Social Worker, with knowledge of intellectual disability and the NDIS.
      3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
      4. Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
      5. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
      6. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
      7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
      8. Current unrestricted class C NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to drive.
