      ABOUT WORKSTAND:

Workstand provides commerce software, marketing services, and data solutions to help independent bicycle retailers and suppliers achieve profitable growth. Workstand isn’t your typical software company or your typical bike industry company. We are a privately owned small business serving an important niche, striving for mutual success and sustainability for every retailer and supplier in the cycling industry.

Workstand has been voted one of Outside Magazine's Best Places to Work for six years. We offer fully remote work with an engaging culture, compelling work, and strategic clarity. All clients are in the bicycle industry, so work days are fun and interesting. We support one another and achieve our goals as a team. Each person, at every level, has an impact.

Total Rewards and Perks include: fully remote work environment, flexible scheduling, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision packages for employees and eligible family members, 401(k) plan, paid volunteering, paid professional development, and discounts on products, bikes, and gear. We offer an accrued PTO program of 14 days in your first year as well as sick time and ten paid holidays. Employees are eligible for bonuses.

      JOB PURPOSE:

As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll be our front-end authority — the person who elevates user experiences with deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern front-end architecture. You’ll design elegant, performant, and accessible interfaces while shaping how we build software that serves thousands of retailers and suppliers across the cycling industry.

This isn’t just about frameworks, it’s about mastering the language, the browser, and the architecture that makes complex applications scale. You’ll mentor teammates, influence cross-application decisions, and set standards that raise the technical bar for the entire team. And while your specialty is front-end, you’ll also step across the stack when it helps deliver complete solutions by collaborating on APIs, integrating services, or tackling cross-application challenges — all in service of building polished, scalable software that makes a real impact for our customers.

Hiring range for this role is $109,000 to $139,000.

      REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position is a part of the Development Department and reports to a designated team lead. This position will be fully remote.

      JOB FUNCTIONS:

      • Lead the design and development of responsive, accessible, high-performance web applications with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
      • Architect and maintain shared front-end libraries, components, and tooling across multiple applications
      • Mentor developers on advanced JavaScript/TypeScript concepts, helping close knowledge gaps and strengthening the team’s technical foundation
      • Lead cross-application architecture decisions for microfrontend implementations
      • Collaborate across disciplines (backend engineers, designers, product owners) to deliver complete, end-to-end features
      • Adapt quickly to new challenges, applying strong problem-solving skills to deliver solutions across the stack — including backend services, databases, infrastructure, or wherever else the need arises
      • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and system stability
      • Champion accessibility, performance, and security best practices
      • Stay curious and bring forward new ideas to improve our applications and workflows
      • Contribute to a collaborative Agile process through code reviews, ceremonies, and continuous improvement
      • Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting production applications and collaborating with teammates to quickly diagnose and resolve issues

This is not a comprehensive list of possible responsibilities, tasks and duties. There are a variety of other duties that will need to be completed on an as needed basis.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Extensive professional experience building modern front-end applications with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js
      • Advanced TypeScript proficiency (complex types, generics, architectural patterns)
      • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
      • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs in collaboration with backend teams
      • Familiarity with web standards and accessibility guidelines
      • Proven ability to contribute across the stack and see projects through to successful delivery
      • Experience mentoring and providing technical leadership on a development team
      • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and lead initiatives to completion

        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

        • Experience with advanced front-end architecture patterns (e.g., microfrontends, monorepo management, module federation)
        • Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and performance optimization
        • Familiarity with experimentation and internationalization practices (A/B testing, i18n/l10n)
        • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and modern SaaS or e-commerce environments

Limited domestic travel may be a requirement.
