      Position: Senior Software Engineer (Developer), PeopleSoft HR

      Employment Type: Permanent

      Compensation Details :

      • Software Engineer 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

      Location:

      • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
      • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Halifax, or Vancouver.

      Team Overview:

      • The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
        • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
        • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
        • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
        • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
      • As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow, and succeed internationally, the Digital Platform Delivery & Architecture (DPDA) group in EDC plays a critical role in enabling leaders to leverage technologies by providing an easy-to-use, secure and fit-for-purpose digital business platform.
      • To better position ourselves for success, the Digital Business Platforms group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to implement the team's strategic technology vision by building an effective platform that supports the needs of EDC now and in the future.
      • This role is accountable for the hands-on design, build, support, and operations of the PeopleSoft HR team, responsible for managing the internal website and related complex HR systems. The primary areas of focus will include automated testing, cyber security compliance, systems integration (incl. expanding support for integration patterns, maintaining an integration catalogue), monitoring and tuning the platform to maximize the effectiveness of all the technology teams at EDC. The incumbent will also be required to leverage AI to deliver new and exciting features as well as unlock operational efficiencies for the team.
      • The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in programming and systems administration, with experience in cloud platforms, DevSecOps, and modern development frameworks, all within the context of corporate enterprise. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required to collaborate with the team and stakeholders to translate big plans into achievable timelines and incremental deliverables.

      What you will be doing:

      • Design and develop enhancements and customizations for PeopleSoft HR modules (e.g., HR, Time and Leave system).
      • Develop and maintain PeopleSoft components, including Application Engine, and People Code.
      • Maintain EDC’s standalone talent acquisition suite Taleo.
      • Design and implement robust solutions with Python, or .NET on Azure stack.
      • Collaborating with other implementation team members to understand and meet customer requirements, as documented in a project plan.
      • Perform system configurations, integrations and upgrades.
      • Creating and maintaining technical documentation on integration and migration solutions.
      • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
      • Provide Technical support for implementation, upgrades, and maintenance projects.
      • Stay current on new PeopleSoft releases, patches, and updates to ensure the system is operating efficiently and securely.
      • Practicing rigor and discipline in following EDC procedures while proactively contributing to quality and the improvement of procedures and processes to benefit EDC and its teams and clients.
      • Applying your continually improving understanding and knowledge of EDC’s software, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, and the industry in general.
      • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections, and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.

      What we are looking for:

      • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant discipline.
      • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in development, hands-on experience with C#, Azure Dev Ops, .NET Framework and/or .NET Core.
      • Proven experience working with PeopleSoft Cloud and cloud technologies.
      • Experience working with relational databases and SQL and NoSQL databases.
      • Strong understanding of PeopleSoft security structures.
      • Advanced knowledge in Microservices, and API development.
      • Advanced knowledge in Integration services, including JSON, REST.
      • Proficient with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes.
      • Ability to approach challenges with innovative, user-centered solutions.
      • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation.

      What will make you stand out:

      • Familiarity with Test-Driven development (TDD) and automated testing.
      • Testing experience with Robot Framework.
      • Azure Developer Certifications.
      • Previous experience in the financial services industry .
      • Bilingual in both official languages of Canada (English and French).
