- Own our developer experience by working with engineering teams to identify and resolve areas of developer friction
- Drive adoption of best practices in code health, test automation, and maintainability
- Define and support local and cloud-based development environments
- Improve the reliability of Continuous Deployment
- Develop monitoring for development systems and tooling
- Develop reusable tools, frameworks, processes, and automation around build/deploy/test workflows that help engineers set up, implement, and deploy their services as quickly and easily as possible
- Codify software development life cycle practices (build, deploy, test, refactor, release with no downtime) that enable high-quality releases
- Build integrations with engineering systems such as GitLab and Jira
- Passion and a genuine interest in the field of Developer Experience
- 3+ years of Python programming experience
- 3+ years of experience in the field of systems engineering, DevOps, or Developer Experience
- B.S. or M.S. in computer science or a related technical field, or comparable experience
- Strong writing skills
- A systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
- Systems programming languages such as Go, Rust, or modern C++
- Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting distributed systems
- Kubernetes, including tools such as Helm or Flux
- Docker and Linux containers
- Google Cloud Platform experience
- Experience with software in a regulated environment
- Genomics or bioinformatics background

This position is open to remote within the US or onsite at our headquarters in South San Francisco.

About this opportunity:
At Freenome, we are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help grow the Freenome Developer Experience team. The ideal candidate has several years experience on a developer experience team and has a passion for implementing tools, frameworks and best practices to maximize developer productivity. You will have a significant impact on the continued growth of a high profile technology organization that is changing the landscape on early cancer detection.
The role reports to the Senior Manager of Infrastructure.

The US target range of our base salary for new hires is $157,000 - $240,000 . You will also be eligible to receive pre-IPO equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
